The crucible is a story written by Arthur Miller about the witch trials in a place called Salem in the year 1692. On the story a woman named Abigail has an affair with a man named John Proctor. John immediately regrets this so much so, that he denies that it ever happens. She lusts after him even still after John clearly states that it was a mistake that will never happen again, or even be spoken of. She then gets jealous of Proctor’s wife Elizabeth, so much so that she calls upon a servant girl named Tituba to call upon the evil spirits to perform a hex on Elizabeth so that she would be killed so that Abigail could then have Proctor all to herself.
