How To Write A Apology Speech
I want to apologize for SOME of the things I said in my post about Berkley the other day. I’ll admit I was pretty ill informed on that particular situation. I just talked to a friend the other night who went with a group of people to see Milo speak and I was informed that a few of them were assaulted. Apparently some girl got pepper sprayed by at protester and some other guy was smashed over the head with a flag pole etc etc. I was also informed that among those assaulted were a group of LGBTQ peeps and a Palestinian woman.
I’d like to make it very clear that I do not support this movement in the slightest. I work with people who are dedicated to enacting positive change through education, building community, and the empowerment of the youth. Not this other crap. Now here’s where it gets a bit confusing. There are certain instances in which I think an aggressive/violent reaction is justified, but I’m not going to go into that right now. You guys are smart enough to know what I mean by that. Beating someone with a flagpole because they want to listen to some guy speak however is not my idea of progress. I think Milo is trash and I think the things that he and his supporters preach are trash, but that doesn’t mean I’m gonna try and injure them because of that. What will that achieve? Is there not a better way to go about the situation?

If y’all disagree with me on certain parts or if you have any other perspective you’d like to share about Berkley or anything for that matter than go ahead. Let have a REAL CONVERSATION and try and learn from one

Thursday evening, July 23, 2015 hits a bit close to home for me, as this was the evening when a gunman opened fire in a local movie theater in Louisiana. The Grand Theater 16, in Lafayette, LA was the place where three people were killed along with nine others injured during the evening showing of the Amy Schumer film, Trainwreck. Shortly after the 7:00 pm, a gunman stood up during the film and began to open fire. He started firing on patrons as they sat unexpectedly of any such heinous act. As the pops of gunfire became more regularly, people began to scatter from the movie room. During the incident, two teacher friends were there together. One jumped on top of the other in an effort to save her from being directly hit. The woman who was…

On September 11, 1998, President Clinton gave his infamous speech he titled “I have Sinned” at the Prayer Breakfast. In this speech, he addressed the issue of having a sexual relationship with a woman named Monica Lewinsky and apologized for his actions. The nature of his first speech seemed more of “self-defense” rather than the apology the American people wanted to hear (59). In the attempt to have a successful speech, President Bill Clinton had to have a remorseful, yet confident attitude that did not come across insensitive. I believe that in his speech, he was truly sincere and meant his apology.…

In President Clinton speech it sounds like he is apologizing to the people of the Rwandan genocide like he is the one who did it to them. But when he says “We owe to those who died and to those who survived, who loved them, our every effort to increase our vigilance and strengthen” it makes it seem like he was apologizing for something he did himself, but he did not commit the Rwanda genocide. Also when he says “We owe to all the people of the world who are at risk because each bloodletting hastens.” This sound like he is apologizing because it sounds like he owes them something for what he did. But President Clinton didn’t do anything to anyone. He is apologizing in this speech when he had no part in the Rwanda genocide. And I can get why…

“The process that followed the occurrence is more upsetting that the sexual assault itself” (The Hunting Ground). Without punishment, sexual assault can lead to harsher crimes such as rape and brutal beatings, as well as, long term side effects such as depression, anxiety, underdeveloped social skills, and suicide. “if nothing changes, more than 100,000 college students will be sexual assaulted in the upcoming school year” (The Hunting Ground). These childish repercussions seen in such highly respected university campuses is unacceptable and are not only shown to increase these illegal crimes by their students, but are, in reality, encouraging student to partake in these acts and creating an environment that is unsafe, unsecure, and destroying the experiences that students should be involved in to learn and grow as a young…
