They are a symbol of power and authority. Think about it, everyone who has any power wears a tie. The president wears ties every day and even military officials are given a tie as apart of their uniform. Unfortunately to wear a tie you must know how to tie a tie, but do not fear I am here to help. Here is a list of step by step instructions to help you learn how to tie a tie. Just purchase the tie of your choice and your ready to go.

The Windsor Knot Materials: For a Windsor knot you must first buy a necktie.

Step 1: Place the wide end of the tie on your right side and the skinny end on your left side.

Step 2: Cross the wide end over the skinny end. The wide part should be on top of the skinny part. The wide tip should be touching your left side and the skinny part should be touching your right side.

Step 3: Bring the wide in through the look at the center of your neck. You should bring the wide in through the backside of the loop. Pull the wide in all the way through the loop around your neck.

Step 4: Once the wide end has been pulled through, place the wide end once again in your right hand and the skinny end in your left hand.

Step 5: Now put the wide end behind the skinny end. DO NOT GO THROUGH THE LOOP AGAIN! Then place the wide end in your left hand and the skinny end in your right hand.

Step 6: Then take the wide end and place it through the loop again, but this time through the front end of the loop. At this point the skinny end should be in front of the wide end.

Step 7: Next wrap the wide end around the knot. Once your wide part hits the back of the knot pull the wide section through the back side of the loop.

Step 8: Now open the top part of the knot and glide the wide part of your tie through.
