While I do have a lot of goals that I want to accomplish in my college career, I’m only going to only talk about one of them. And that goal is for me to build up my confidence. I’ve been an introvert all my life; although there’s nothing wrong with being quiet, there is something wrong with having thoughts like ‘your worthless’ or ‘nothing you ever do is good’. If someone compliments me saying I’m good at something, I would respond by saying something like ‘you’re just saying that to be nice’ or ‘no I’m not, I’m horrible’. And every time I would say that, someone would think I was just being humble. But the truth of the matter is that I actually believe that. It’s a little funny to think about how I developed this kind of personality; because…

Although it has only been a week since the first lab and I made this goal, I have been able to start practising these problems in a number of ways. One, of course, is the classes that I am taking here at the college, that are all helpful in my ability to get out and meet new people, but also at my part time job at the front desk of a local hotel. Growing up I was always told to believe in myself and never let something hold me back. This was hard at first, having two older siblings always making fun of me, laughing, and putting me down. They were the people I looked up too, so I thought I had to believe them. I felt like I could never do right. I started to learn that they were not always right and I could just take what they say and put it behind me. I started to believe in myself and be confident in my own decisions. I can take others criticism and learn from it, by separating the good and bad things. Helping me move forward and not holding me back or stopping me.…
