Discuss how these factors affecting the reference process-
I. Staffing resources

In some cases, the economy can also play a large role in the staffing process for your company. For example, if the economy is poor and many other companies have laid off employees, you might have a larger-than-normal talent pool to choose from. When this happens, you may have to spend more resources than normal making sure you find the right person. You may need to have many more interviews than normal.

II. Management’s expectation

That is not providing visibility and clarifying accountability related to performance expectations. Then documenting individual performance to support compensation and career planning decisions. Also establishing focus for skill development and learning activity choices and creating documentation for legal purposes, to support decisions and reduce disputes.

III. The library’s and its parent institution management policies and practices

Policies ensure a common understanding among our workforce of the business, legal and regulatory steps we follow. Practices outline how we undertake tasks and procedures. The factor that affecting the reference process is identifying and responding to students who may pose a threat of harm to themselves or others forces administrators to walk a fine line between over- and under-response. In order to respond effectively, campus administrators must draw on the best practices from the student development, mental health, campus safety, and risk management fields while complying with legal and regulatory requirements.

IV. Conflicting philosopies and practices of reference service
