Hypothesis: Temperature of water affects the time taken for salt to dissolve
Introduction: In this is will be doing a coursework an experiment in which I will be trying to prove my hypothesis? I will do a set of trial experiment and a main one which I will be trying different temperature, which I can prove that this will work and to make sure I get hang of it when I do my real experiment. I will also draw a set of graphs in which I can show which can show if this proves my hypothesis.
Important Variables:
Temperature: Temperature is an independent variable this is because when we are doing our experiment we have to change the temperature in order to complete our hypothesis as if we do not change the temperature this will have a direct impact

Salt: Salt is a mineral which is found upon the chemical symbol NaCl, which is made up of sodium and chloride .Salt is normally made of the mineral rock salt. Salt was found in a tiny little crystal which looks like small cube. However, this shape can be changed due to the change in temperature which can be made in the small little grains as in which we see them today. (1)
Salts normal colour is white. There many types of salt, for example, there are table salt and sea salt. Table salt is mainly found underground from salt mining and digging. However, sea salt is found from evaporation of water from the sea or ocean’s or water from sea lakes. Table salt uses are for adding for extra flavour in the food. This is also used for salt of the road which is called gritting. However sea salt is used for also used for cooking.

There are 2 ways that salt can be obtained. Salt dissolves in water this is because the positive parts of the water attract against the negative parts of the sodium chloride and the negative water attracts against the positive salt. (2)
Method 1 -is mine and digging, this is one if the ground salt is obtained and in which this can be used in grit or industrial uses.
Method2 -is solution mining, which pumps water with salt and then turns into brine water because of the salt dissolving. Then this salt is extracted from the salt in the water.
Water:
The chemical symbol is H2O.There is many uses of water, for example, this can be used for drinking or washing clothes. Water covalent bonding is that two hydrogen atoms join up with one oxygen atom.(4) Water can also be formed in a 3d lattice which is made up upon positive and negative ions which the H –water forces separate the +and – negative ions. However, heat makes the H2O particle faster. This means that the positive part of the water attracts negative ions and negative parts of water attract the positive ions.     My hypothesis stated that I believed salts with a larger density will increase the temperature of the ice faster than salts with a smaller density because the heavier salts will sink through the ice faster since they have a heavier density than water and stop the molecules from staying ice faster, consequently raising the temperature of the solution, than lower density salts would. . The data I collected shows potassium chloride, which has a density of 1.98 g/㎤, increased the solution’s temperature at a faster rate than any of the other solutions.
