"How Should Today's Youth Combat Negative Moral Influences?”
Negativity is always around you but that doesn’t mean you should let it control you. You have to be your own person and be strong enough to conquer those negative influences. If you have someone or something that keeps your mind busy in a positive way you can overcome anything. Having something positive in your life can help today’s youth combat negative influences.
I have two sisters on my father side who are always out late and are not a part of structured activities. Since we are all underage staying out late is not a good idea. I have AP classes and play Volleyball; it keeps me from hanging with them as much. Having a positive influence in your life can keep you away from the negative ones. Volleyball was a good way for me to keep my mind focused and I was able to meet new friends that did the right thing which influenced me not to follow my sister’s behaviors. Today’s youth need that one positive thing in their life to help them stay focused on what really matters.
Dependable parents are needed in this generation. If you have a parent that care for you; you shouldn’t push them away. They are there to help guide you through anything. Kids, who don’t have reliable parents, can turn to local community centers for the structured guidance and support. Everyone needs at least one person who cares about them in order to do something positive. That adult figure tells you what’s right and what’s wrong. Having someone to lead and show you the good in life will always be a good thing.
The main way today’s generation can combat negative influences is to think for oneself. You can’t let people influence your beliefs and own morals. Once you let them control your life you then find yourself doing things that aren’t right. You have to stand your ground be who you truly are. The mind is the source of whether you do positive or negative things so as long as you think straight and have a good clear mind set fighting those negative influences won’t be as challenging.

Parents should allow their children to grow up on themselves for them to be able to make difficult decisions, so they realize how it is out in the real world. In both the articles “‘Snowplow Parents’ may be trapping their children” and “Kids of Helicopter Parents Are Sputtering Out” show that students’ parents are way more involved in their lives than they should be. Students should be allowed to have more freedom to be able to have fun, but they should also know that having an education is important to become successful or at least be smart in an area of their interest. As students graduate high school they are only a step away from being left alone by their parents and having freedom. Parents should be there to listen to their child’s needs…

Unfortunately, many adolescents are never given the opportunity to build relationships with caring adults. Nearly a quarter of all American children will live in single-parent homes, and half of the current generation of children will live in a single-parent household during some point in their childhood (Dryfoos, 1998). There are a host of factors that contribute to this situation such as changing economic, social and cultural conditions have increased the vulnerability of negative life outcomes for…

One healthy way to minimize how negative people treat you, would be to just avoid them. In my opinion that is the best way. The reason I think that is because it is not healthy to spend to much time with people who drain you and make you unhappy. Life is to short to be around negative people, so it is important to always surround yourself with positive people. Also, negative people can also affect how you act as well. So therefore this is why I think staying away from negative people is a healthy way to keep people from treating you badly.…

For the first time in 130 years, Americans ages 18-35 are more likely to live with their parents than in any other living situation. Leaving your parents home is a huge rite of passage and a lot of kids are missing out on it. Like in the story The Setting Sun on the Rolling Earth I believe that parents should know and understand when it is time to let their children go. They should also understand that they can’t keep protecting them forever. Protecting your child is making them miss another important part of the rite of passage, making your own decisions and learning from their mistakes.…

According to the Wikipedia “Peer group” article, “the term peer pressure is often used to describe instances where an individual feels indirectly pressured into changing his/her behavior to match that of his/ her peers”(“Peer group”). For instance, many people fail to see how the positive side of peer pressure…
