How Is Macbeth Responsible For Killing Duncan
Our king, Duncan, has just been murdered and I need to find out who did such a deed. Let's gather the facts here, I am in Macbeth’s castle in Scotland. The witnesses are Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, Malcolm, Donalbain, the two guards and the porter. Macbeth has just told us that he has killed the two guards after seeing that they have bloody daggers and clothes. I believe that someone is trying to frame the guards for killing Duncan. Macbeth is freaking out and he keeps telling us that he can’t live without his king. I still have my suspicions though, because he is the host of the king and he was here all night. My other suspects are Malcolm and Donalbain. Even though they are King Duncan’s sons they are indeed the successors to the throne and they …show more content…
Let’s begin with the Thane of Cawdor, Macbeth. He had decided to host King Duncan for a night and I know that Duncan agreed. I don’t think Lady Macbeth is involved because she is a woman and could never have pulled off such a horrible thing. I can’t suspect the guards because they don’t have a motive for killing Duncan; they are being fed, paid and given shelter. Macbeth has obviously been here all night and probably didn’t leave his castle. Macbeth is low in the line for being king and after seeing him rise form Thane of Glamis to Cawdor I don’t underestimate his ambition to gain more power, “He bade me, from him, (King Duncan) call thee Thane of Cawdor.”(1.3.110) Having Duncan over at Macbeth’s castle would be a perfect opportunity to kill him because no one would expect anything. Macbeth is a loyal soldier who has served and looked up to Duncan. Macbeth could have easily drugged the guards, snuck into Duncan’s chamber while the guards were sleeping and killed Duncan. He would then …show more content…
They arrived here at Macbeth’s castle this morning asking if their father was awake. This is when Macbeth goes upstairs to check on Duncan and kills the guards after suspecting them of killing Duncan. I suspect these two boys together because they are the successors of the throne and together they could accomplish this deed. They might have felt like they needed to speed up the process of being king and decided to kill their father. Another thing I noticed about Malcolm and Donalbain was that after they realized their father was dead they didn’t seem to be as distraught as I anticipated. I also overheard them talking about fleeing Scotland which seems a little suspicious, “To Ireland I. Our separated fortune Shall keep us both the safer.” (2.4.163-164) The two of them fleeing is suspicious because they didn’t stay for long after their father died and I feel like they might be trying to hide. I now have to take all my observations into account and figure out who I think killed my

Macbeth at a Glance In Macbeth, William Shakespeare's tragedy about power, ambition, deceit, and murder, the Three Witches foretell Macbeth's rise to King of Scotland but also prophesy that future kings will descend from Banquo, a fellow army captain. The murder of King Duncan creates somewhat of a snowball destined to roll down a very high and steep mountain for Macbeth. To cover his tracks, multiple subsequent murders are carried out. Shortly after killing Duncan, Macbeth kills both men guarding Duncan’s room. Although this was convenient for Macbeth it was also very unnecessary – the guards were two innocent men merely in the wrong place at the wrong time. When his best friend, Banquo, starts to suspect Macbeth, Macbeth feels very paranoid and threatened and orders for Banquo along with his son, Fleance, to be killed. While Banquo is murdered, Fleance escapes. Macbeth at first appears to be delighted by the news that Banquo is dead but come time for the banquet, his guilty conscience takes over and Macbeth loses all composure in front of his guests when he sees Banquo’s ghost. Later in the play, Lennox informs Macbeth that Macduff has fled to England. Macbeth resolves to attack Macduff’s castle and have everyone, including Macduff’s family, killed. The murder of King Duncan is the initial birth of Macbeth’s greed for power and not only are these subsequent murders unanticipated consequences, but the guilt and stress that comes with it.…

Although he is extremely hesitant in his decision and seems to back away from it multiple times, in the end he goes through with it. Him, and no one else kills Duncan. Therefore, his ambition becomes the decider and catalyst for the regicide. No matter how much his wife questions his manliness, Macbeth’s ambition becomes the only thing able to overcome his hesitancy long enough for him to to commit…

Macbeth is a murderous heathen, whom sought to heighten himself to the rank of King by betraying the country (already stated this), his King and god. An earlier witness; one of Macbeth’s “Loyal” servants, (the gentle woman) stated that he had heard Macbeth whispering “I go, and it is done. The bell invites me. Hear it not, Duncan, for it is a knell that summons thee to heaven or to hell.” Obviously scared of Macbeth’s murderous mind, the servant stayed quiet until now. There were more witnesses as of yesterday, as a cutthroat hired by Macbeth told the jury of the atrocities he had performed, before being dragged off to be executed. To quote; the murderer said “Macbeth threatened me with a certain death if I were to betray him. That was just a shimmer of the murderer within him.” The prosecution would also like to point out that straight after Duncan’s body was found, Macbeth killed the two intoxicated guards, blaming these poor innocent men for the murder, and also dispatching of two possible witnesses. Macbeth did also state “O, yet I do repent me of my fury, that I did kill them.” In stating “them”, Macbeth could have been referring to both the murdered slaves and our fair King Duncan. Macbeth also insinuated that the drunken guards murdered Duncan in his sleep, but if you look and think, and I am sure you are all intelligent Lords and Ladies, a drunken guard cannot…

Have you ever wondered what would have happen if certain characters didn't do or say certain things? Like what would've have happen if Macbeth didn't kill Duncan? I believe that Macbeth would have been a great leader. He wouldn't have any guilts, so he would actually lead the country in a good direction. Duncan would've probably sponsored Macbeth, therefore people would actually like him when he came to the throne. Banqou would still be alive, and with time he would've probably had more kids. Since the witches told him he wouldn't be king, but his children would be. The biggest thing I believe would have been in his favor is Divine Right. With that the universe would've not fallen out of balance, so he there would be peace. When he's time came…
