Another example of hope in Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption is when Tommy Williams arrives at Shawshank and tells his story about Elwood Blatch. According to Williams, Blatch had said he murdered a man named Glenn Quentin and his lover. Elwood Blatch had claimed”There’s one guy doing time up-Maine for these two people I killed. It was the guy and the wife of the slob who’s doing the time.” This gave Andy hope that he could present Tommy Williams story to a judge and get out of Shawshank for good without the need of escaping.…

Still, when there is no hope inside someone, but people around him have hope, it helps him or her receive that hope, which helps that person achieve recovery or a dream. It’s only there for the people who believe in it. No hope, no disappointment, right? Wrong. Life is full of disappointments, no matter what. But you have to believe in something better than disappointment in order for it to be better. No hope, no change. Just like how one tiny glimmer of hope in the heart of a rebel started a revolution. A revolution that became a war, a victory, and then a country. And it all started with hope. Hope can be misleading sometimes, and it hurts a lot to be let down when you’ve seen something that you’ve wanted right in front of you, but it also brings change. Good changes and bad changes. Say what if those rebels didn’t dare to hope, because they were afraid. Would we be what we are now? Probably not. Hope created a country, and continued the search that brought 33 men back up to our world from over 2,000 feet underground. Hope for something better makes us work harder. Hope for a change gives us tenacity. And hope of the simplest kind, the kind that we are all born with, the kind that marks us as survivors. Survivors of cancer, and of war. People who fought because they believed there was still hope for a cause. People who battled disease because they wanted to live to see…
