How Football Changed My Life
A time I lost but gained. I have been blessed with a wonderful life. My family has never been considered wealthy, but my parents have always found a way to get me what I need and want most. This circumstance enabled me to find ways to not only enjoy what I do but to find new experiences I enjoy as well. One experience, that I enjoyed doing from day one, is playing sports. My favorite of all athletic events is football, but, anything that involves a ball, I am automatically drawn in. I still remember playing as a fifth grader. We always had hard football practices but the second that we made it to the game it all became worth it. My love for the sport grew more and more each year. As I was going through the first year of high school I became more and more obsessed with the game. I had friends alongside of the me entire way. We would work hard together. It was a lot easier with friends by your side who have the same goal. Football had turned into more than just the hard practices and games. It became a brotherhood. …show more content…
This was unfortunate as I missed a few weeks of practice but was soon able to return. I was unable to play offense anymore since it was my right hand that I had broken. It was difficult to hold onto a ball with a cast covering my hand. This situation was extremely hard for me since the only position I had played on offense was at quarterback. When I first got my cast off and came back, I learned to only play defense but as I went along, I developed and learned how to play a brand new position. I was able to take a step back which in the end took me farther as now I am going to play college ball as a

At games and at practice, I tried to the of my best ability to motivate the younger players on my team to give it all they had. As a role player, I was expected to make big plays in the game. I have been a part of the men’s basketball team here at Fort Campbell high school for three years the coaches have put a lot on my shoulders since my sophomore year. I tried to lead and be a role model as much as possible last year, and that helped me grow as a person and take on challenges my father and mother went through as a student athlete. My father was an extraordinary football and basketball player, he could have possibly got a D1 scholarship if he didn’t break his ankle his senior year. As I’ve been a part of the football and basketball team, I’ve influenced my sister to exercise and join sports instead of sitting in the house wasting time. Growing up she’s has basically been my shadow; she does just about everything I do so I try to lead by example. If anything my mom influenced me to…

Today was the day to pick up my football equipment. I could not hold in my excitement, it was a Saturday and my first practice was on a Tuesday. I was outside chucking the ball in the air and catching it when my mom came out. “It’s time to go,” she said “OK” I exclaimed as I dropped the football and sprinted to the van. When my mom and I arrived I tried on my gear and left to sign up, the guy at the signup place signed me up he gave me a football and a New Ulm area youth football shirt. “See you at practice,” he yelled as we were heading to our van.…

Football, it is not just a sport or some game. It is my whole life. Every year I have one goal and that is to make it to football season. Playing in each of those games gives a special feeling that no one can get enough of. Winter, Spring, and Summer do not even compare to what Fall is like, not only is it one of the most beautiful times of the year but the most intense, most exciting sport seasons to anyone with a pulse. I prepare for it all year long, doing different sorts of exercises such as running, lifting, jumping rope, and anything that I could think of to help me be the best athlete I could possibly be. No matter how hard someone could prepare for football there is only one thing that will truly make someone the best they could ever be and that my friend is heart. If they do not have heart they will not make it anywhere, not only in football but in life. With heart and dedication there is nothing that cannot be accomplished. Some days I just dream about playing football on the next level. The thrill of just suiting up in that jersey means the world to me. Playing underneath those blinding lights, that lights up the whole field like the sun. There are so many different ways to win games but there are a basic few that will definitely do the trick. Some offense will really put points up on the board to show how good the team is. A whole lot of defense will win the game; it will stop the other team from putting the points up. One of my favorite quotes "Offense sells tickets; Defense wins championships"--Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant Jr. There is always Special Teams too without it there would be no kickoffs, no field goals, and without it the game would not be complete.…

I lived on a farm where my neighbor was my best friend till he moved away. I then had one year till school would start for me, which I would spend with my family, and one or two friends who I would see occasionally. When school finally started for me I had no friends I already knew. It only took me a few days of watching the older kids playing soccer to learn the game and I eventually started playing with them. They learned my name and I learned theirs, soon I was friends with most of the kids in the school (somewhere around 45 kids, K-6). The next year I was sent to a new school in Monticello. Again I made friends quickly and we would spend recesses playing tag and running around. As I entered the fourth grade professional sports entered my life. I had been wrestling long before I entered school and played baseball when I was old enough to enter tee-ball, but professional sports never occurred to me until football. From fourth grade to sixth I came to school in the fall and spring to play football. As I grew up and graduated elementary school I faced new options. I could now participate in regulated Jr. High teams. I chose football, wrestling and baseball. I had played all of these before, but this was high school sports where you had stands full of people to watch you. You now had pads to play football and your games were official. Life in wrestling would become more competitive and baseball would be as hard as ever and so far my experience has only been beneficial.…
