How England Ruled The World
United kingdom is a tiny island nation had become a great empire in the 19th century, where sun had never set. It is not even the size of Indian UTTAR PRADESH. It had no resources of its own -yet it commanded resources of the world with TOTAL MONOPLY. It had no great leader like world winning NAPOLEON or ALEXANDER. Begining with MAGNA CARTA ACT of 1215, it set off a process which gave a new character to the people of this Island nation. Then came people like DISARELI who gave IMPETUS TO ITS GREATNESS. The industrial revolution was the result of the desire of the people to seek scientific answers to HUMAN MISERIES than being guided by the CHURCH and the religion. Religious was shown doors. Above all other factors, one of the greatest reasons of its world domination was the CHARACTER of its people. I am always envious of the BRITISH for this. The BRITISH SYSTEM was NOT only fair but also appeared to be fair. Just forget your rants about the atrocities by BRITAIN on its colonies. They had to rule and administer. Therefore, they dealt with the offenders of law as they felt appropriate, may be harsh but LAWS are meant to obeyed and NOT to be VIOLATED. If you violate, for whatever reason, you attract retribution by the law. We might call some of our heroes as FREEDOM FIGHTERS but they were offenders of laid down laws of governance. Let us not be emotional about it. I say, today, your own people are more CRUEL and BRUTE than the BRITISH. Your own acts of omission and commission are worse than the bullets that rocked JALLIANBALA BAG in 1919. We cry for one O' DYER of Britain---But, today, here are O' DYERS in every nook and corner of this country. The character of the people of a NATION is their certificate for GLOBAL SUPERDOM. Certainly, Britons had a lot of moral values, which most of us can not even dream of. In the same vein , I can say that even USA had this quality and therefore they took over from where BRITAIN left. Consider Japan, after the second

The main political motivation for English Imperialism was due to the rivalries with its European Counterparts. Initially, European countries were looking for a water passage to China so they would be able to trade for their goods. Spain, who lead the charge, landed in Central and South America, captured gold and silver. From this the Spain were able to grow their army and hence, their political power. Next in line were the France who landed in North America and discovered the land to be ripe with animal pelts which brought great wealth to the French (Norton, 2015). The Dutch had found the same success…

World War II (WW II) helped hasten the dismantling of the British Empire. As Khan explains on page xii some 5 million persons joined the British military, over half of them came from South Asia. One quote reflects something that was likely echoed by every South Asian soldier who fought for the British crown, “We suffered in the war but you didn’t…we bore this so that we might be free” (Khan xi). As Khan eloquently states, despite what millions of westerners have heard about World War II, “Britain did not fight the Second World War, the British Empire did.”…

Imperialism has many costs and many benefits. Some benefits are new technology, education, and new weaponry. Some costs are many reforms, unfair trade treaties, and many deaths. With all the losses of imperialism, there were benefits that counteracted the costs of all the losses. The costs of imperialism are outweighed by the benefits of imperialism. Imperialism benefits in Japan outweighed the costs by gaining a spot as a world power, building a stronger military, and earning a higher spot in economic trade. Britain’s imperialism was beneficial because it helped make society more productive, less violent, and more organized.…

The Industrial Revolution was a transformation in Great Britain during the 18th and 19th century that involved great innovations in technologies, manufacturing, agriculture, and transportations. Changes in government, society, and trade also proved that the Industrial Revolution was a period of time where new ideas thrived and that countries around the world were greatly affected. The immense growth in population, which mainly consisted of workers and laborers, the effective waterways and abundant natural resources, and the political stability of Great Britain all caused the country to become the very first one to experience an Industrial Revolution.…

Part A-1 There were many underlying political motivations prompting English imperialism. There were many in power in England, who were of the merchant classes. Those in the merchant classes would benefit from trade agreements. In order for these merchants to benefit from more trade agreements, there was a need to obtain additional resources which ultimately came from obtaining more land—as well as control of trade routes. There was a quest for a transoceanic trade route to provide direct access to African and Asian goods.…
