How Does Wet Tissue Strength Hold More Marbles
Wet Tissue Strength Tested on Various Tissue Brands
Abstract: Wet tissue strength was tested on various tissue brands. The wet strength was shown by seeing how many marbles the wet tissue can hold. Students conducted this experiment to determine if higher priced tissues can hold an increased amount of marbles. This experiment was a blind study, with the supervisor of this investigation withholding information of which brand is which and their costs. At the end of this experiment, it was concluded that the higher priced brand, Puffs, held the most marbles at an average of 41 marbles.
Purpose: Does higher- priced tissues’ wet strength hold more marbles?
Background: This experiment was conducted to test the wet tissue strength of various tissue brands. While the experiment was conducted, it was a blind study, meaning that information on the brand and cost was withheld. The first brand was labeled A, and was Puffs with a price of $2.49. The second brand labeled B was Nice!, sold by Walgreens, with a price of $1.79. The third brand tested labeled C was Kleenex, with a price of $1.25. In the Brand A box there was 180 tissues, in Brand B there was 160, while Brand C had 100 tissues. This experiment was conducted in a Pennsylvania Science Honors class, at Canon- McMillan High School.
