Context has been a major faction contributing to the way Romeo and Juliet was written. In William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Baz Luhrmann produced a Romeo and Juliet with a modern context rather than an Elizabethan context. Context has influenced the language and representation of ideas throughout Romeo and Juliet, notably with the themes: Loyalty Vs. Disloyalty, Power and inequality. These themes have changed the way Romeo and Juliet was written and put them into a different context.…

The Montague and Capulet family feud played a very important role in this film. The feud between the houses is what made the entire story what it was. Tybalt would not have been killed by Mercutio, Romeo wouldn’t have killed Mercutio, Romeo wouldn’t have killed Paris, and Romeo and Juliet wouldn’t have to be secretive about their relationship. So, if it weren’t for the feud virtually none of these…

There were many fights, arguments and deaths throughout the story. For example the death of Tybalt Capulet killed by Romeo with knowing they are enemies they fault with no real circumstance other than Tybalt knowing Romeo's feelings, for his dear cousin Juliet. Another example is the scene where the two capulet guards were explaining what they would do to a montague if they tried to get in. in scene one act one a grad says “ When I have fought with the men, I will be civil with the maids: I will cut off their heads.” in this they are talking about fighting the montagues. The last example is the biggest consequence of all. Romeo and juliet said they both rather be dead than live without each other, so because of the hate between the two families was so strong the killed themselves. This shows how it supports the theme through…

Romeo and Juliet is a play of love and hatred. In the centre of it all is Juliet, barely fourteen and still reliant on her wet nurse, yet willing to take her own life then to live without the one she loves. In the short four days, in which the play takes place, Juliet faces more than most in a lifetime. She is forced into marriage, she secretly marries an enemy of her house, her new husband kills her cousin and is exiled only allowing her one night of wedded bliss. She has to pretend to kill herself only to find her husband dead beside her, after which she takes her own life. During this emotional rollercoaster Juliet changes from an innocent, naïve thirteen-year-old to a defiant and independent young heroine. I have chosen Act 1 Scene 3, Act 3 Scene 5 (lines 69-242), and her soliloquy in Act 4 Scene 4 to compare, as they show different stages of Juliet's change in character.…

Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare in the sixteenth century that encapsulates a lovable cast of characters and a forbidden love that was written in the stars. It is a show that entertained the masses of its time and, despite the intermittently confusing vocabulary, continues to tantalize readers around the world today. One of the reasons that it remains doing so is that of the conversation that is to be had about what happens in the novel. With plot twist after plot twist, the reader is left wondering whose fault everything truly was. The one who is to blame for the outcome of Romeo and Juliet is just that: Romeo himself.…
