In A Midsummer Night’s Dream, William Shakespeare decided to include multiple plays within the play. I would say that adding a play within a play shows the artist creativity and shows that there is more than one way of describing what is meant. In A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Theseus is preparing to become married to Hippolyta. This play in fact has so much relevance to love, that the other plays within this one are also about love. The other plays were used to reiterate the main theme in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Doing this gives the audience a chance to gather information and question the nature and creativity of love. It begins with Theseus and Hippolyta planning their upcoming wedding, moves to the younger Athenian lovers who are confused about what they truly want and ends with a ton of Mechanicals who are performing at Theseus and Hippolyta’s spectacular wedding
With Shakespeare, you’re never sure what to expect, but I find that this is quite like his other work, such as Romeo and Juliet. In as Midsummer Night’s Dream you have three sets of characters. I would say this play shows a major significance to reality when it comes to love. In life love can be happy or sad and another list of emotions.
