1) What is access of care?
According to Healthy People 2020 (2015) access of care means means having the timely use of personal health services to achieve the best health outcomes. This can be done in three steps: Gaining entry into the healthcare system, accessing a healthcare location where needed services are provided, and finding a healthcare provider with whom the patient can communicate and trust (Healthy People 2020, 2015).
2) How does service availability affect access of care?
Service availability can affect access of care by unmet health needs, delay in receiving, inability to get preventive services. For example individuals that live in rural areas experience the barrier to healthcare that limit their ability to get the healthcare they need, because in these areas there aren’t any urgent care’s, or the nearest hospital is far away. So these individuals don’t get the proper care that they need, because they don’t have access to the proper care. …show more content…
Affordability can affect access of health care because some individuals can 't afford to go to the doctor, so they can 't receive the proper healthcare that is needed. Acceptability (quality) of service can affect access of care because if the service of health care isn 't up to par then your going to go some somewhere else and that company will lose business and money. Physical accessibility can affect access of care by if your disabled of course seeking care can be costly also depending on the disability there maybe a certain type of care an individual may need or they may have to see a
