How Does Politics Affect American Politics

America is a country of democracy, hope, freedom, and opportunity. The Land of the free and the home of the brave is a common expression when speaking about America. However, the country is not without issues. Politics are becoming more and more complex and in the eyes of the American public, it is seen as ineffective and unproductive as Congress seems to make no progress in the betterment of America. In our political system, Congress is supposed to work for the people to improve the lives of the people. Yet, in multiple instances, Congress has proven time and time again how unproductive they can be when dealing with problems that plague our country. This unproductiveness from Congress leads questions such as why what the real issue with American Politics? However, with all things considered, the real issue in American politics could actually be the two political parties and how they operate Congress. The way in which they operate leads to little to no changes that could help benefit the lives of the American people
Now, in 2018, nearly two decades later, Columbine is out of the top ten for the deadliest shooting. Since Columbine happened mass shootings have increased and deadliest shooting has occurred, such as Sandy Hook, San Bernardino, Las Vegas, Orlando and Sutherland Springs. Yet, Congress has done very little in efforts to improve gun control. Leading to more and more Americans losing trust in the government. During the presidency of Barack Obama, Congress made little to no progress as Republicans and Democrats could not agree on ways to improve gun control due to their own personal agendas. Thus, leaving the American people with no real answer to when our American political system will make a change to stop mass
