How Does Garlic Decreases The Growth Of Bacteria Substantially?
Processing my findings:

My hypothesis was that garlic decreases the growth of bacteria substantially, which my experiment and results have proven to be correct. In order to prove my hypothesis correct, I carried out an experiment where I grew bacteria on 14 different agar plates and placed garlic on seven of the agar plates and then had no garlic present in the other seven agar plates. All 14 agar plates were kept under the same conditions while the bacteria colony was growing in order to ensure that all factors were kept constant. From the results, it was evidently clear that the size of the bacteria colony of the agar plates without garlic with an average of 115.29 mm² was much greater than the size of the bacteria colony with garlic that

All the agar plates with garlic placed onto them did not grow bacteria, apart from plate C thus proving that garlic can be seen as a “Natural Antibiotic” as the garlic did not allow any bacteria to grow in most of the agar plates. Garlic is a natural substance with 0.3-0.5% Allicin (1) and almost 80 sulphur compounds which destroys the growth of micro-organisms. Thus it has also supported Petrovska and Cekovska (1) in saying that an individual has less chance of catching a bacterial infection and that garlic can be seen as a preventative as it did prove to inhibit bacteria in my experiment and bacteria was prevented from growing. However, in my experiment the garlic was not tested orally and thus this also supports the NYU Langone medical centres (2) statement in saying that garlic is more of an antiseptic rather than an oral …show more content…
Such as; learning how to create my own experiment and then to carry it out, learning how to work with apparatus and then applying my knowledge to analyse my results. I will use these skills in the future when I go to tertiary education as it will help me analyse results in a more critical manner. This task has also extended my knowledge of the benefits of garlic and has made me more aware of alternate remedies, from now on I will try to use garlic as much as possible. I have definitely grown through this process as it has shown and taught me how to manage my time

In my personal life, I have taken part in various activities to develop my skills beyond the classroom. An example of this is taking part in the National Citizen Service during the summer after I completed my GCSE exams. During this time, I faced many challenges and pushed myself to complete tasks I never would have done otherwise. As a group, we worked together to support a mental health charity and raise funds and awareness for people suffering with mental health issues.…

An intellectual opportunity that has caused for much growth in my particular life is that of arriving into high school. The whole experience of beginning new, having to make friends and acquire new information caused for me to become more mature going through the years. As complex as it was losing friends and learning to do things more independently has shaped the way that I do things in everyday life. The things that are and were the hardest caused for me to become someone that I myself can be proud of when looking on the inside of myself. I have become stronger, wiser, and more discerning about the things I want for my future and education. I understand things that I did not know before. The assignments that I received pushed me and called for more than just an ordinary scholar I am proud to say that I am not the same person that began this journey in the ninth grade and for that I am proud and thankful to those that helped me along the way.…
