How Does Child Labor Affect Children
This paper will discuss child labor and the negative effects it has on children. There are 168 million kids in child labor at the moment. That’s over half of the U.S. population! Child labor strips children of their childhood. It also removes children from school, which affects them many other ways. There are many facts about Craig Kielburger. Craig is an activist trying to stop child labor. Child labor is very common among children around the world. Child labor has many things that affect children. He was looking for the comic section was he was stopped by an article in the paper, it was about a boy in pakistan, named Iqbal Masih. He had been murdered because he had stood up for human and children's rights. At that point, craig thought of something. A connection. Iqbal had been 12, craig was 12, craig could've been Iqbal. For the first time, he felt he needed to do something, something big. But then reality struck him, what difference could he make? He was only himself, one person. What he needed was a group of people, enough to make a difference. So craig convinced some of his classmates to help him. And at that point, the Free the Children act had started.
Craig took a trip to asia soon after. There he went too many countries. He and a group of people in asia that were against child labor, did many things too stop child labor. They held parades, performed raids, held gatherings, conventions, and speeches. He got too meet with leaders of many countries, who passed laws about the problem of child labor. For the first time, these leaders acknowledged the problem of child labor. Craig said that after he got back from asia, the rates of people wanting to help their cause shot up a tremendous
