How Does Boo Radley Show Courage
In contrasting perspectives, courage can be defined as a lot of things. What does it mean to you? Boo Radley, in my assumption, is the most courageous character in the classic novel; To kill a mockingbird. One reason why I think that Boo Radley is the bravest, courageous character; he risked his life to save Jem and Scout from Bob Euell. Although many would assume that he's cowardly since he stays in his residence for years, he came out and saved the kids. On the night when Thier neighbour's, miss Maudie, house burned down, Boo Radley gave Scout a blanket(since it was cold)without her even know he gave it to her. Another and my final reason is that he brought Jem and Scout to their home and he talked to Atticus and the sheriff. Although this

Another character from To Kill A Mockingbird who shows courage is Mrs. Dubose. Mrs. Dubose is a grumpy neighbor of the Finch’s who forces Jem and Scout to read to her after Jem destroys her bushes. Later we find out that Mrs. Dubose was trying to wean off of morphine before she died and was using the kids as a distraction from the pain. In fact, that’s one of the ways Mrs. Dubose shows courage, she knew that the weaning process would be extremely painful and unpleasant and yet she was determined to go through with it and rid herself from the addiction. Another reason that this was courageous is because she knew that in the end she was going to die, she knew that she wasn’t helping herself live longer by breaking her addiction yet, she went…

Courage is characterized as mental or moral strength to surpass notions of fear. As demonstrated by Atticus Finch and Mrs Dubose in Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, the development of courage gives the character’s strength and courage to hold their heads high, while fearing none. Harper Lee depicts the theme of courage incalculable amount of times, detailing courage as “ when you know you’re licked before you being, but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what.” (Chapter 11, Page 124) All of the characters have an alternate kind of perspective of what courage is exactly, which will be examined in depth.…

Many assert that Atticus Finch is the hero in the novel, “To Kill a Mockingbird,” by, “Harper Lee,” but I respectfully disagree with that and believe the true hero is Boo Radley. Throughout the book, “To Kill a Mockingbird,” Boo Radley was secretive and reticent, although, he had multiple encounters of being heroic. Boo Radley additionally, is somebody portrayed as a mad man. Scout, Jem, and Dill was told that Boo (allegedly), defiantly stuck scissors into the leg of his repressive father. When the children heard about that, they reluctantly tried to find out more information about Boo. By the end of the novel, “To Kill a Mockingbird,” Boo is distinguished more as a hero to the children, rather than a shadow of a dreadful person. I conceive…

As Jem and Scout grow up in the Maycomb community, they begin to learn and understand people’s views in the community and how they contradict their father Atticus’s views. The largest part of the courage is presented in Atticus as he is fighting a lost battle. Characters that appear later also present courage such as Boo Radley and Mrs. Dubose. Jem demonstrated acts of courage in many ways throughout the novel. A good example would be when Dill made a bet with Jem for him to touch the Radley house. Jem showed courage here as he took on the bet although he was frightened but decided to go along with it to show that he was courageous. Later in chapter 6, Jem (accompanied by Dill) got close enough to the Radley house to actually look inside the window. This shows courage as Jem and Dill know that theres a chance of getting caught. (Which they did). Later in the same chapter Jem Returned to the Radley Place to get back his pants which is yet another act of courage. This was fuelled by the possible disappointment of Atticus once Jem would have had to explain to him what happened. To not disappoint and face up to Atticus, Jem had no choice but to return to the Radley house being fully aware of the dangers once again. Five…
