How Does Angle Of Sunlight Affect The Surface Temperature On Earth
2 Angles make a difference
Aim
The aim of this experiment is to test whether the angle of sunlight affects the surface temperature on earth.
Hypothesis
I believe Block B will receive more sunlight than Block A, because the lamp shines directly onto Block B.
Materials
* * Lamp * 2 thermometers * 2 blocks of wood * Black plastic tape

Procedure 1. Cut out two small identically sized pieces of black tape and attach onto wooden blocks so that they make pockets. 2. Secure thermometer in each pocket, ensuring that it is touching the plastic sheet. Tape the thermometer to the board to secure it. 3. Place the two blocks the same distance from the lamp. a. Block A: Lay one block flat on the desk so that the

Identify which block (A or B) showed the greatest increase in temperature?
Block B showed the greatest amount increase in temperature. 2. Identify which block (A or B) modelled the surface of the Earth in: a. Far north Queensland - B b. Southern Tasmania – A 3. Use your results to explain why: a. The tropics are found near the equator
The tropics are near the equator because the sun strikes earth at the equator due to the earth’s axis. b. Icebergs are only found in the poles
Icebergs are only found in the poles because the tilt of the earth causes the sun not to shine at the poles and it is extremely cold at the poles. 4. Did the results show what you were expecting? Why? Why not?
Yes. I was expecting Block B to receive more light because of the angle. 5. What would you do differently if you had to repeat this test? What changes would you make?
Something I would do differently next time I do this experiment is that I would wait for both of the thermometers to cool down until they are the same temperature and I would use a better
