How Did William Golding Influence His Writing
William Golding was born in England on September 19, 1911. He has produced many literary works that are still recognized today, most notable being Lord of the Flies. As a youngster, H.G. Wells, Jules Verne, and Edgar Rice Burroughs were all authors and writers that he admired, eventually having an influence on his writing. William Golding had been writing stories from the age of seven and had attempted to write a novel at the age of 12. Having gone to school in England, he was exposed to many different literary works and pieces; as great English works and writers alike were very prominent at the time. Golding lead an extremely interesting life, in which he had several firsthand accounts of humanity at its absolute worst. Serving as an admiral in the British Navy, he was constantly subject to the massive destruction brought about by the second world war. His experiences would play a vital part in nearly every one of his major literary works, and they would become the basis for his most famous novel, "Lord of the Flies."
