How Did Morgan Freeman Changed
“ If you lay down, people will step over you. But if you keep scrambling, if you keep going, someone will always, always give you a hand. Always. But you gotta keep dancing, you gotta keep your feet moving” (Brainyquote, n.d.). This quote was stated by Morgan Freeman, a respected individual in the entertainment business. I chose him as my research project because I’ve seen him in a lot of movies and I wanted to know more about him. I think it was interesting to see that, though he was a good actor as a kid, he never really wanted to do it as a career until later. Morgan Freeman has changed the entertainment business for the better with his amazing acting and narration skills. Morgan Freeman was born on June 1, 1937, and lived Memphis, …show more content…
His first significant job was working in the air force. Even though this was his dream as a kid, this was obviously not the career he had imagined later saying, “You are not in love with this; you are in love with the idea of this.”(Biography.com editors,n.d.). He made a big break in his career when he landed a part in an all African American production called “Hello, Dolly!” Starring Pearl Bailey (Biography.com editors,n.d.). He also won an Oscar playing a volatile pimp named “Fast Black” in the movie “Street Smart” (Biography.com …show more content…
I described him as talented because he has been an incredible actor and narrator even since he was little. I also described him as talented because of the amount of movies, Oscars, and recognition he’s gotten. Another trait I would describe him with is hard-working. He has endured so many struggles, from segregation to an unfortunate death, and he still has a firm grip on success. I also described him as well-respected. People, like interviewer Mike Wallace from the TV series “60 minutes”, to President Barack Obama, have commended him, saying things like, “He’s a thoughtful man,” and “I respect him immensely,” (Biography.com

Nelson Mandela was born July 18, 1918 in a small village in southern Africa and named Rolihlahla Mandela. In a country controlled by a white government, he was extremely fortunate to become the first of his family to attend school. Since his name meant “troublemaker,” his school teacher decided to call him Nelson hoping that he would not cause trouble with a new name. Little did she know that in a few years he would become one of the greatest troublemakers in history; a man who would change the racial ideals of the ruling white minority.…

There are just some things that distinguish the good authors from the bad ones. Those things include character development, language choice, plot development, and making a story relate to everyone. Because Paul Beatty has all four of these in his book, "The White Boy Shuffle", he must be classified as a good author. Now I realize he has other books and they could all be horrible, or even better than this one, so you can't base talent of an author on one book(if that were the case and you based my skills off of this paper you would assume I am horrible, which I like to think I am not). But for the sake of making my life easier I am going to base Beatty's talent off of this one book.…

By following his heart and becoming an actor, Ricardo Pitts-Wiley took a risk. Acting is a profession known for having low pay and employment, but ever since he stepped on stage in his junior year performance, he knew he must continue down this road (94). Once he found employment with Trinity Repertory, Ricardo began doubting his qualifications. The questions “Why didn’t I get all the gifts? Why can’t I sing? Why can’t I do certain things better?” began creeping into his mind (95). Through his introspection, he realized he did not need to perfect every portion of a performance. Through collaboration, Ricardo was able to achieve his other aspirations and reconcile with the fact he would not perfect every aspect of a performance, but would excel in the parts where he…

Absorbed in my laptop screen, I watched as Josh Gad, then a young man clad in a dapper, cinereal suit and burgundy tie, delivered the speech that changed my perspective. “As Al Pachino so eloquently states in the movie Scent of a Woman: ‘hoo ha,’” Gad shifts his gaze across his audience, “that’s it. That’s all he stated.” The audience erupts into incessant laughter as soon-to-be National Forensic League Original Oratory champion proudly and confidently soaks it all in. Josh Gad became my aspiration; a two time Original Oratory and a one time Humorous Interpretation Champion. As my interest in performance extended beyond that of the speech and debate realm, I fell in love with his origination of the role Elder Cunningham in the Book of Mormon. So when I finally discovered that he received his B.F.A. at Carnegie Mellon’s College of Fine Arts, I knew that I had to follow his advice and “strive to take the chance” in applying to the same program.…

Before I explain my take on what "identity" means in Langston Hughes works, a man who happened to be one of the most recognizable names in African- American literature, I briefly would like to mention about him to help elucidate his background, and his style of writing. Langston Hughes was born in the early 1900s, in a deeply segregated place call joplin, Missouri - once a southern confederate state. After moving around many states with his parents (since they couldn't land a job), he decided to to join the military - which gave him the opportunity to travel to West Africa and Europe. After temporary stay in Europe, Hughes joined the black expatriate community. Upon returning to the state, Hughes went back to school to complete his education…

This is a belief that our future’s our determined by either what we have genetically or by the environment and social interaction. According to Morgan Freeman’s biography, he loved movies from a very young age and when he started going to school he appeared in a lot of school plays. I would say that he had the passion but the environment influenced him even more, however in this case I would say that the environment, the passion for acting determined what he wanted to be like in the future. When he won the State-drama competition at the age of 14 that probably added to his determinism environmentally. I don’t think his abilities were down to his genetic makeup because the plays he took part in school and the training to improve his abilities, skills and knowledge. I can also argue that he had the abilities but all he needed was some proper training and guidance to make him the actor he is today. His experiences through these things training and school plays probably made him better since he was a very shy person; I would not say that it was down to his genetic makeup because none of his family members or parents were or are actors.…

Orson Wells who directed, wrote and started in Citizen Kane is a actor that I consider to be a star. Orson Wells was only twenty five when he produced one of the transcendent movies in the 20th century. Mr. Wells talents were shown throughout his production Citizen Kane that started with the writing of the screenplay. Wells was one of the first writers to go against classical Hollywood cinema by having a variety of flashback throughout his film. Wells acting talent throughout this movie showed me how he could be classified as a star, the way Wells played Charles Foster Kane throughout the movie from when he was a young man to his death really showed his talent. Orson Wells showed his variety of talents in the movie Citizen Kane, thus showing…
