How Did Katherine Paterson Write The Day Of The Pelican
Katherine Paterson was born in 1932 in Huai’an, China. Over the years she has written more than 30 books. Her inspiration to write The Day of the Pelican was when she met a refugee family from Kosovo and their struggle to immigrate to America. Paterson has won multiple awards including two Newbery Awards, two National Book Awards, a Hans Christian Andersen Medal, and a Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award. She currently lives in Barre, Vermont with her husband and enjoys reading in her free time.
