How Did American History Start

I agree that American history began in 1492 when Christopher Columbus made contact with the New World from a national point of view. It was the start of mass migration and exploration of the new lands of the people of Europe to the Americas that would create the colonies and territories that would come to form some of the most powerful and industrialized nations. Of course, Columbus’s achievement did not mean that he had created the America’s. The continents have been on Earth since its beginning. Looking at it from a continental view, American history began with the Paleo Indians migrating from Siberia to the Native Americans forming cities and empires, like Cahokia and the Aztec Empire. The America’s had a history before Columbus made way on his expedition, so why do people look at 1492 and think that American history should start there.
The established European countries gained new access to resources like gold and tobacco that were found in the New World. With the newfound resources the countries focused their money and resources on trying to obtain not only the material resources but also to put the natives, that the countries found savage, to work as slave laborers to obtain the resources that the country desired. With the laboring tasks that were assigned to them, pestilence from the Old World followed the explorers and soldiers diminishing the population of the natives so that the Europeans could take over the land for the resources that they had required. Leading to major innovations and economic booms in Europe and power struggle in
