How Did Abraham Lincoln's Influence On Society
Abraham Lincoln, a marble figure who some view as one of the father of the great change in American history and the political legacy we live today. Today, Lincoln is viewed as an American Icon who preserved the nation from falling apart and indeed keeping it together. He is a model of history because he abolished the slavery system in United States of America. He also wrote a very important document which we all have heard of called, The Emancipation Proclamation. This important document states that slaves would be freed in confederate territory. However, not in the north. For many Americans, he is the great icon of America . He was born in a lap of low class mother, where he struggled to get a good education.He taught himself to read and write which later led him to have interest in politics. Lincoln is the one who aided in keeping our Union together. Lincoln was very unpopular among the democrats all over the country. Yet, he won the heart of American people and became the 16th president in 186. After his victory, Southern states believed that it will destroy their way of life because slavery was very big issue, the north wanted to get rid of slave system, whereas the southern states economy was depended on the slavery and they wanted to keep it.
Even both northern and southern democrats did not like President Lincoln on many issues; Unlike They believed that the states should not be separated at any cost. Southern Democrats, Northern Democrats supported him for the issue of Unity of the states. Many southerners believe that while Lincoln Publically declared that his goal was to “preserve the Union,’ he actually destroyed it.
