How Costs, Revenue and Profit are important for running a business?
In my business and in any other business the costs, revenue and profit are the most important aspects for running a business as the costs are the amount that has to be paid or given up in order to get something for example in my business the costs I would have to spend in order to create my product (cupcakes) is the ingredients such as flour, eggs, icing etc. The second important aspect for running my business is the revenue as that is the money coming in from sales and that is the money that I would have to use to pay my operating costs with. Finally the third important aspect for my business is the profit in my business there are two types of profit which are the gross profit and the net profit the gross profit is the money you use to pay of all your operating costs and the money left over which is the net profit is the money you get to keep.
In my business I am going to try and decrease my costs by trying to find offers and deals on products that I would need to buy, I would also try and reduce the costs that I have to spend by not over using the products I buy so that I wouldn’t have to constantly replace them, I would also not use expensive advertising to advertise my company I would use stuff such as posters and leaflets by doing this it is increasing the revenue and that would give me enough money to pay my utilities. Also to increase my revenue I could rent out my space to another company who may need it and I would get a percentage. I could also create a saving account in the bank so that I am able to get interest to increase my profit. To decrease costs I could also not hire as many workers as my business is a small company and this will save money so instead of hiring part time I can hire full time also to increase my costs on some of my bills such as the internet and telephone I can find the cheapest deal.
In my business if I am unable to control my costs I would

    1. When determining how much of a profit a company will make, one has to look at a few deciding factors. Two of those are total revenue and total cost. Total revenue is the sum of a company’s sales of a particular product. Total cost is how much a company pays for production which includes fixed and variable costs. After total cost is deducted from the total revenue, the money left over is a profit. The goal of most is to maximize profits the best way possible. Total revenue and cost are very important when it comes to profit maximization because they are the guidelines of production. Total revenue is found by multiplying the price of the unit by the quantity produced and when compared to the total cost of each unit produced, a company can find out how many units to produce that would better maximize profits. Profit maximization is found by looking at the difference between the total revenue and total cost and determining which has the greatest profit.…

Gwartney states that profits are; “An excess of sales revenue relative to the opportunity cost of production. The cost component includes the opportunity cost of all resources, including those owned by the firm. Therefore, profit accrues only when the value of the good produced is greater than the value of the resources used for its production.” An example of a profit would be bakery offers a cheesecake for $20 and the total cost to make the cheesecake is $15 this give the bakery a $5 profit per cheesecake.…

In business there are certain factors that have to be evaluated before a company can see if a profit has been made. To even get to the point where a profit will be made there has to be a product that is sold whether it is a tangible or an intangible product. There has to be something that the business is selling in order to make that profit. The amount of profit that is attained is the outcome of the total revenue minus the total cost. This will then show the business what the remaining profit is. Business is like a puzzle, all the pieces have to fit and work together to have the puzzle complete. In business things have to work together or it won’t work and all the hard work that was put in to making a successful business is lost. The main aim of every business is to maximise profit. Profit is the total revenue the business receives minus their total costs and there are many ways businesses can increase this figure. One way of increasing profit is by increasing their revenue, this can be achieved by products or services being well marketed so they appeal to the businesses target audience. By doing this it will increase the interest that the targeted consumers have on the product or service and so demand will increase, meaning that consumers are more willing and able to pay for the good or service and so therefore will increase revenue. Another way of increasing profit is by reducing costs. Changing to a cheaper supplier, hiring cheaper employees, and changing the business premises to a cheaper place are all ways of reducing costs, both fixed and variable, and so would reduce total costs therefore increasing profit. Strategies, the medium to long term plans through which an organisation aims to attain its objectives, are put in place in order to help a business be successful, for example maximising profits.…
