How Can Pesticides Be Banned Persuasive Essay

Pesticides are common chemicals used to deter unwanted organisms from infiltrating places that humans find necessary for themselves. The banning of pesticides in Tolland County is a difficult decision to be made. On one hand, some of the pesticides used are known the cause serious health concerns for humans as well as having large, negative impacts on the environment, but, on the other hand, certain pesticides are useful for the health of humans and their pets, as well as greatly beneficial for economics and livelihoods of many individuals. Certain pesticides should be banned or greatly reduced in use, but they should be phase out slowly, so people whose lives depend on pesticide use have time to come up with alternative ideas on protecting
Some people may see pesticides in just an agricultural or yard maintenance sense, such as insecticides to protect fruits and vegetables from deterioration and infection from pathogens or insects that may inflict damage upon them or herbicides used on golf courses to maintain the lush, perfect looking grass free of weeds for playing gold. These are not necessarily the only type of pesticides, however. It must be known that antibacterial solutions and other cleansing solutions used to disinfect surfaces in hospitals, kitchens, and bathrooms may also be considered pesticides (California Department of Pesticide Regulation, n.d.). These are the pesticides that should not be banned because having a non-sterile environment indoors, especially within hospitals would potentially lead to an increase in the number of infections and sicknesses found in humans. For example, if hospitals could not use any pesticides, disinfecting surgical rooms and instruments would be nearly impossible and would lead to increases in infections in patients who are being treated in these unsanitary conditions.
