How Band Changed My Life
For this essay, I had to see how I had changed over the years of being in band and compare them to the years before I got in band. How band has influenced my life? There is a lot of things that band has influenced in my life; like no time to do anything during marching season, learning to hate buses, how to multitask, and getting to have more friends than what you started with. You learn how to be responsible and how to be on time for things. The saying that every band person needs to go by is ‘early is on time and on time is late’. If you follow this saying, then it will help you with being on time to important things.
In band you get to see how it influences other band members life, but you don’t get to see it in yourself unless you think

    I believe that I can accomplish any obstacle that stands in my way and I’m not going to let anything stop me. There have been numerous times this year and last year where I have been the leader and I have stepped up for “The Band” and “My Section” because of the love I have for it. For example: All the trombone “fanfares” and movements have been my ideas and I have collaborated my ideas with the other members of my section which have led to success during the football games. Another example is when the band was entered into the martin Luther king parade (2010) and Mr. Green needed people to stay after and develop a dance routine for the band with alumni and others. I was one of the volunteers to stay and help out which was a great idea because I was able to bond with the alumni and other older college students to get their advice and opinions for not only the dance routine but for my life. Another example is when the band was invited to perform for the faith world fundraiser (2010) and Mr. Green needed a student to be a “Fill-in” drum major for that day.     I went from the girl who was terrified of speaking her mind to someone who can easily give speeches in front of people and can lead a clarinet section of 20 people. Being responsible for 19 other people is a challenge that freshman me would never have been able to do, and in this way, band has helped me grow into both the leader and the person that I am today.     Bands of America was very cool this year! The bus ride went very well, only problem being that every bump hit would rewind the movie that was playing.     As section leader of the clarinets at Mukwonago High School’s top band ensemble, I am expected to guide my section to success.     Before I had even started high school I hit a very deep depression. I struggled with it for years. I felt I had no family and no friends. It was a very hard time for me.     There are many memories that have happened in my life that are important to me. It is very hard to select one that has really changed or impacted my life as an individual. Considering I am just about half way through my illustrious life building a bank of historical memories that I would like to recall and some that I would like to erase for good.
