Hosting a Lemonade Stand Within a Yard Sale
Think Summer think Yard Sale. Think Yard Sale Think Lemonade. Hosting a lemonade stand within a yard sale is great fun for kids. This will be their first step towards business administration, book keeping and finance handling. Here are a few tips that will come handy when hosting a lemonade stand.

Pick up sugar and lemons from local supermarkets. For getting a good deal check the local supermarket.

For lemonade stand accessories visit the dollar store. Here you will find a wide myriad of fun table clothes, pitchers, hand-held citrus juicers, poster board and cups. Most of the items can be reused, therefore, store them safely.

Choose fresh lemons over flavored powder mix. These days, people are more concerned about their health and prefer organic food over the flavored and artificial ones. Apart from that lemons are more budget friendly than a container of flavored lemonade powder.

Have the cups of fresh lemonade pre-poured. However, keep them covered with a tissue or a coaster. It will be easier on those running the stand because the customers need not be kept waiting.

Always offer a healthy alternative. Many people shy away from the loads of calories added to the homemade lemonade. For them you can always keep the sugar-free lemonades in a box of ice.

Do not forget to keep a garbage bin near your lemonade stand. Also keep a sign that says the price per cup.

Lemonade Recipes

Here is a lemonade recipe for your garage/yard sale.

Simple Lemon Juice

Ingredients

1 cup sugar 1 cup water 1 cup lemon juice 3 to 4 cups cold water

Preparation

Make simple syrup by heating the sugar and water in a small saucepan until the sugar is dissolved completely.

While the sugar is dissolving, use a juicer to extract the juice from 4 to 6 lemons, enough for one cup of juice.

Add the juice and the sugar water to a pitcher. Add 3 to 4 cups of cold water, more or less to the desired strength. Refrigerate 30 to 40 minutes. If the lemonade is a little sweet for your taste, add a little more straight lemon juice to it.

Serve with ice, sliced lemons.

I played the game three times before I successfully made a profit over $2.00. In order to be successful, I had to keep my prices closer to $.20 on days when the temperature was over 90 degrees and closer to $.12-$.15 on days when the temperature was between 50 and 70 degrees. In addition, I watched the number of cups I was selling per day in order to purchase the right amounts of ingredients for that day; some of the time I bought a little extra when the price of the lowest amount was cheaper to purchase multiples of that increment versus the larger amount. When the game drew to a close, I was watching closer to see just how many pitchers/cups my ingredients would make, so that I would not end up with a large amount of ingredients left over which would make my profit margin lower overall.…

Would you rather drink soda or juice? I would prefer to drink juice even though it’s not that healthy, but it’s better than soda. I say that because, soda can make you break you out on your skin and also can damage your kidneys, such as kidney stones because of the phosphoric acid in the soda. According to Answers.yahoo.com it takes 72 bottles of water to flush out 12fl oz of soda in your body, and that is really bad. Soda can do many things to your body harmful things and all it is, is a drink that can do many things to you in one swallow. Juice is not all that glory either, but if you find the right juice such as Welches Grape Juice that is really healthy and has 60 calories per serving. It is also, a really great tasting drink and there…

While growing up on Smith Hill in Providence, Rhode Island, I had a lot to look forward to by the standards of a young elementary school boy. I followed my older cousins where ever they went through the neighborhood, usually the park. Around the corner from the street I lived on was Camden Park where my cousins and I spent hours during the summer and after school. Up the street from this park was a stand called New England Frozen Lemonade. Making the trip around the block to this lemonade stand was among some of the highlights of my life.…
