Over the years I’ve witnessed to some gifted public speakers. People like Ted Kennedy (yes I’m met him a few times) who had a power and forcefulness to his voice that painted mental imagery so strong you would swear you can see his words. John Bingham from Runner Magazine, he had jokes, but could captivate his audience through a shared passion that made strangers feel like they knew each other. Retired Chief Terry Savoie who delivered a speak at an awards banquet with the slogan “life ain’t fair…win anyway”. All three of these people had one thing in common, a message. They had the ability to deliver a message to their audience. Their vision became yours. You could see the images they described like a paint hanging in a museum, beautiful and…
November 11th, 1998 King James is elected to run the country of Houston. Houston was a decent sized country with a population of 1.5 million people. Everybody loved King James because of the way he could speak. He influenced people with his choice of words. One day something bad happened. King James was assassinated in his house while he was sleeping. The murderer broke through his window and shot him. They still to this day have never found out who was the cause for this.…
I am on the side of Benjamin Franklin because we have to take matters into our own hands to break free from Great Britain. We have tried multiple times trying to break free from Britain and we can’t just think that King george will stop his ways. Just as Patrick Henry said “Give me liberty or Death” we will should fight to get our freedom even if matters go to violence. If people join the Loyalists then they are breaking the dream of our great country the United States of America. This is also breaking the dream of our great president George Washington.…
Meta: Forget New York City, Kajot are putting the focus back on the fruit that the city obtained its nickname from. Big Apple is all juicy, with reels that players will want to take a bite out of.…
President Franklin D. Roosevelt and his New Deal program changed the course of American history greatly. The New Deal was associated with a number of economic programs and initiatives implemented in the country during the presidency of Roosevelt contributing to the country’s economic prosperity and stability, as well as greater confidence and security on the part of American citizens. President Roosevelt did not only promote but also re-defined the meaning of economic freedom over the course of the New Deal stating that the governments promoting economic inequality and poverty also promoted oppression and distarothip giving no hope for the future prosperity and social stability. Roosevelt…
My family is visiting Philadelphia over Presidents Day Weekend. My mom and I are planning on driving up to Princeton on Sunday (February 19th) to visit the campus. I was wondering if would be possible to not only visit the campus, but also see the swimming facilities to determine if Princeton would be a good fit for me. I hope your season is winding up well! Let me know if that is a possibility!…
The show’s six week duration feature multiple instances of producer enforced mayhem within the “Bachelor Mansion”, a home that the women have to share throughout their courtship. Contestants are scarcely seen on camera without a glass of champagne in hand, fueling their flirtations and feuds with their roommates. The women present themselves each evening in full gala attire as they await judgment from their potential husband in the form of a long stem red rose. Despite the show being referenced in James’ article as “sexually exploitative” and that the series was serving up “an adolescent boy’s fantasy” by the National Organization for Women, the show draws in a consistently large and predominantly female audience.…
Tuesday during a campaign stop at Montgomery County Community College’s Parkhouse Atrium in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, Bill Clinton seems to have accidentally misspoke and claimed he was running for president instead of his wife Hillary Rodham Clinton.…
3. A report from Alberta’s Workplace Health and Safety confirms the death of a young landscaper working for the city of Edmonton, was caused by a distracted driver who never seemed to realize she had hit him. The landscaper was working on a clear and sunny day on July 24 when a Honda Civic crashed into him. According to witnesses, the young man was clearly visible. Some said the woman was holding a cell phone and seemed to be texting before getting out of her car. “The driver did not even know that she had crushed a landscape worker. There…
The World Wide Fund for Nature or WWF for short has worked at reducing our carbon footprint for over 45 years. Even since 1985, the World Wildlife Fund Network has invested over $1.165 billion in more than 11,000 projects. According to the WWF website, their mission is to conserve nature which they are actively doing in 100 countries with 1.2 million members in the United States and close to 5 million globally. There are several ways that everyone can do their part in supporting WWF. Supporters can donate money, adopt a species, or take action and directly help conserve our environment. I am going to discuss WWF’s cause and importance, how they are working to conserve nature, and how all of you can help support the cause.…
3. Giving immediate employment to these graduates can make this country a more auto sufficient one, with less lazy people, more people that work and leave their heart making things right. This could also be a model for future generations. The government should employ these people so they can maintain themselves and not be dependent on other people to do stuff for them.…
Samantha Booke: Resolved: The Negroes should be admitted to state universities. My partner and I will prove that blocking a Negros’s admission to a state university is not only wrong, it is absurd. The Negro people are not just the color in the American fabric. They are the thread that holds that all together. Consider the legal and historical record. May 13, 1865, Sergeant Crocker, a Negro is the last soldier to die in the Civil War. In 1918 the first US soldiers decorated for bravery in France are Negroes Henry Johnson and Nedham Roberts. In 1920 the New York Times announces that the "n" in "negro" would hereafter be capitalized.…
Hi, my name is Isabel and I am here to talk to you about a sickening problem in America. I refuse to pretend like this isn 't happening in our nation for any longer. Who here has ever been in trouble at school? Maybe you just got yelled at or had to serve a detention? If you lived in Texas, Tennessee or any of the other 19 states that allow corporal punishment in schools, you would be hit with a wooden paddle as a punishment in front of all of your peers. This happens to students of every age from primary school up until high school. It is vital that corporal punishment in schools is outlawed because it is inhumane, ineffective, teaches children violence, and teachers should not…
Ana Perez Cortes GEO 102 10:30-11:45 Animals in Entertainment: Zoos & Circuses Topic: Animals in entertainment: Zoos and Circuses Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to support the PETA organization which advocates for animal rights, whether its becoming a member, donating money or just supporting their cause. I. Introduction A. Attention-Getting (Hook) Material (focus attention on problem): Imagine being on an island where you have the freedom to do whatever you want whenever you want, suddenly you are taken from that luxurious island and put behind bars in a cage with limited spacing. You are then told that this is for your safety and they are just “trying to protect you”. You began getting…
“The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently.” This quote by Friedrich Nietzsche speaks volumes toward the importance of individuality and self-expression. It shows how conformity can lead to complacency and “corrupt” our most valuable resource, our youth. School uniforms do just that. The requirement of school uniforms can cause more problems than they solve ranging from elevated stress levels to legal issues. People will always have their opinions on the benefits of school uniforms though it’s important to consider both sides of the argument as well as considering other options such as the option of a dress code. Growing up in Salina, Kansas left me with only a few educational options; of three schools, two are public. Which public school you attend is determined by where your residence is in correlation with pre determined district zones. Having never been subject to uniforms I can’t personally speak for their pros or cons, I can however give insight into the liberty and self-expression I experienced by attending a public school that implemented the use of a dress code instead of a strict uniform policy.…
