Honors And Action Project Analysis
1. Joseph has gone above and beyond in his role as Alpha Chi Nu’s Chapter President during our development for the Honors and Action project and other activities. During his time as president, Joey came up with the basis of our Honors and Action project, “A Mile In Our Shoes”. He wished to help the unheard and misrepresented voices of our community and this is the outcome of that. Joey set a mandatory schedule on when we should have interviews done for our Honors and Action Project and has kept up with the work of making sure our chapter keeps up with it. He sends out reminders and routinely speaks with the members in the chapter to keep us on track. Joseph also scheduled that everyone's final information regarding our Honors and Action project …show more content…
He gave out tasks for specific members to read novels and another group to do research online. He made sure that all work was evenly divided for everyone to assist with the project. Not only that, Joseph spent a majority of his time outside the scheduled meetings to have our College Project up and running. When we ran into multiple complications with having project uploaded onto Southern Maine Community College App, he volunteered his time and had our project up and running quickly and efficiently. Another part of our College Project was to run the "Ask Desk", located in the Campus Center. Joey worked multiple shifts between classes to make sure the "Ask Desk" is staffed. He correlated dates and times with the officers to determine who would work and …show more content…
Joseph has contributed much of his time to this organization and is highly dedicated to it. Throughout 2017, Joey has met with President Ronald Cantor about the Chapters activities and plans for the past Fall Semester. By talking with the president, we were about to speak about our College Project at the Faculty Convocation. This created a stronger working relationship with the faculty members because their input was essential for our project to work. Before he was President, he was Vice President of Scholarship and oversaw a large portion of our Honor and Actions Project last year. He has contributed to the Southern Maine Community College outside the Chapter as well. He served as Vice President of the Business club until the Fall of 2017 and then voted as Secretary due to his responsibilities as Alpha Chi Nu's President. In the Business Club, he helped to plan the OREO (Obstacle Race for Each Other) Race Fundraiser, which was an obstacle fun run race in November 2017. He helped to raise $750.00 that went to the hurricane relief in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico. He also volunteered to help Habitat for Humanity to help build the Ronald McDonald House in Scarborough. In 2016-2017, he was an English tutor for students on the SMCC campus. Each week, he would spend numerous hours in the Campus Center assisting students to better themselves in their English classes. This spring, he will be working with the America Reads/Counts program as a tutor within a local school

The award wasn’t a reflection of the current chapter or its executive board. It was a reflection of 104 years of promising and challenging times. The men who remained in 2010 could have folded on their commitment to the chapter but instead they decided to build an awarding winning chapter that the university, alumni and all brothers could be proud of. The men of Alpha Tau challenged the process and beat a culture of apathy by engaging alumni and inspiring the men of Alpha Tau.…

Our Honors in Action awareness campaign addressed what borders and boundaries today's young adults are confronted with and how awareness of bias and self-perception can impact attaining life goals. We found through our research that the boundaries that exist for young adults and youth are not necessarily physical boundaries. We decided to explore these ideas through four phases that included a technology survey with a personal bias activity, a discussion panel on internet safety, a lecture with the topic of overcoming obstacles that we create and that are created for us to overcome, and finally, a book collection for under privileged children.…

Joe’s is carried out through Steve and the volunteers; furthermore, the mission of Christ is carried out by St. Joe’s. My service reflected the Catholic church’s teaching on human dignity through service towards and care for the needy of NYC. We did not drug test, we did not kick people out after one meal, and we did not turn away the mentally challenged. As said in Proverbs 22:2, “The Lord is the maker of both rich and poor.” Every person who came into that restaurant deserved their free meal simply for being there and being human. Despite my animosity towards that asian woman, her actions did not disqualify her from taking another piece of bread or sitting down for another ten minutes. The dignity and sanctity of life is preserved in St. Joes by humanizing their guests and making them feel at home in the soup kitchen. I saw the sanctity of life by seeing God in the people at St.…

Looking back at my Computer Analysis Project about my food intake, I found two major problems in my diet. The first problem is that I have high cholesterol. My intake of cholesterol is high. The DRI is < 300 mg and my intake is 357 mg. The percentage for my cholesterol is 118.9%. I didn’t expect that my cholesterol will be this high. Having high cholesterol can cause major health problems. It can cause you to have heart problems. There can be a blockage in the arteries. It is when the cholesterol blocks the blood going to the brain and heart. When there is to much fat and plague, it builds up on the walls of the arteries and becomes hardened. The arteries become narrowed down, causing the blood and oxygen to move slowly to the heart and to the brain. When the blood is reduced, you can have a…

In our AP Statistics project encompassing the first semester’s material, we chose to research and analyze the correlation between the number of AP classes Taft seniors have taken in their high school careers and the number of followers Taft seniors have on their Instagram accounts, where the number of AP classes was our explanatory variable and the number of Instagram followers was our response variable. Our group chose this question because we were interested in seeing if there was, indeed, a statistically significant relationship in Taft seniors’ academic schedules and their presence in social media, specifically Instagram. We did not expect to find a clear or obvious relationship in the findings of our sample, as academic rigor and social…

I asked myself, “what can I do to make an impact on my community?”. That is when I founded my high school’s Red Cross Club. We aimed to push the vision-mission, “to alleviate human suffering through volunteering and donations” to the student body to make a change in our community. I initially started with only three other members, however, we bolstered our ranks by over 20+ members in two weeks. Balancing 7 AP and PreAP classes, such as Biology and US History, proved to be a challenge for management of the club. Keeping up with extracurriculars was not always easy however, I always made time to supervise my club. Being a leader at times was very frustrating, but overall it was a very positive experience. While I did slave for the club, it never felt like work to me because I felt very passionate helping others. The Red Cross Club became my medium for making a positive impression on my environment. Through the cooperation of my school’s class officers and my own members, we did donations like can drives around Thanksgiving to help soften the burden of low income families in inner Houston. In addition, with collaboration with Student Council, we fundraised and donated to sponsor underprivileged children during Christmas. Being a part of this club has made a positive impact on my life to be great. My experiences at the club made me develop a strong work ethic, and useful leadership experience to be used in…

For my senior project I took on the task of rebuilding a 2007 Polaris 700 snowmobile. It was a challenge working on a new kind of machine, all of my previous mechanical experience being on motorcycles. I decided to step out of the box and try something new! Difficulties came along with this decision from lack of knowledge on the simple make up of parts that comprise a snowmobile, to a basic problem with tools available at my house. Luckily I have friends and family members that are very knowledgeable in all motorized vehicles and these folks came in handy when I would get stuck during the process of swapping most every stock part on the sled out for aftermarket upgrades.…
