Honesty in Friendship
Honesty in Friendship

Have you ever heard the story, “Pinocchio”? The story is about Pinocchio who is a marionette, he always uses lies to make another person believe that he is poor and gives him food or clothes. But then, a fairy granted him a wish, which is, when he lies, his nose will become long. And when everyone knows it, Pinocchio is very sad and decided to be honest ever again and at last he has many good friends.
After reading this story, I believe you will understand that in a friendship relationship, honesty is the most important trait one should have. Although many traits such as respectfulness, trustworthiness and caring are also important to have one believes that honesty is the number one trait.
To establish a friendship relationship one should be able to believe in each other. An example of this believes in each other is when a friend borrows money and they say they will return it the next day. They are giving their word. If they just keep the money and never return it to back then they are considered to be a dishonest person and the friendship can fall apart. Instead they should be honest and tell the truth of why they couldn’t return the money and maybe the friendship could be restored. Having good intentions speaks about having good character, when someone has good intentions then someone can be believed in.
Being sincere with friends not only help you communicate with others, but also it can help you make more friends and make your social intercourse skills become better and better. If we are not honest, people will not believe us anymore and it will ruin our friendship and our future, as if you did something wrong, no one will believe what you say anymore. Furthermore, telling lies make us become a liar which means that no one will like us again as everyone knows, no one like liars, right? So, we will lose a friend which will gain an enemy. Therefore, we shouldn’t tell lies in anytime because we need to use another lie to cover the last

Lies are told around the world multiple times during the day. Everyone sitting in this room has probably once today, said a lie. Sometimes lying is understandable for someone’s protection but sometimes the truth is essential to the person. There are multiple things people say in a day that are seen as lies such as “That outfit looks really good on you!,” “It wasn’t me!” and “I’ll be with you in a few minutes.” Honestly is not always the best policy because in the end it does not make everything better. People tell little lies so that they protect someone they care about and not hurt the feelings of another person. Honesty not always being the best policy is showed in The Scarlet Letter, “Tell All The Truth” poem, the “He Lies” video,…

In the article “Brad Blanton: Honestly Tell the Truth” he says that telling the truth can keep a relationship based on reality while also saying that lying keeps people locked their own mind. He states that. “‘ Many people think think they tell the truth, but they don’t because they withhold information. Have the courage to be honest and have a relationship with others based on reality’” (5). If people did not lie then they know that their relationships with friends are based off of facts and not manipulated information. However most relationships are not perfect and some relations might even end if everyone did not withdraw information to one another. The article also says that, “‘But it’s just as likely that you’ll end up losing people whom you don’t want around you anyway’” (15). But if people be honest to each other, they might lose people that they actually want in their lives. Being honest is good but if one is honest they are very likely to offend people and lose friendships in the end. In conclusion, Blanton says that telling the truth can help a relationship with a friend as well as saying that lying keeps people locked in their own minds however relationships can never be perfect and if people were honest they might lose their…

The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi was first published in 1883. Collodi, wrote “Pinocchio” to convey the excitement, danger, and deception of being a young puppet that hopes to one day become a man. In 1940 the first “Pinocchio” film was made. Disney has certainly impacted the way in which our generation views fairy tales, one expectation I, along with most everyone who has any prior knowledge of “Pinocchio”, certainly carries with them is the “growing nose.” Everyone vividly remembers when “Pinocchio” lies and his nose begins to grow longer and longer. Lying destroys trust amongst people and results in lost prestige. When trust is lost, it is difficult to earn it back because we tend to assume that a person who has lied once will lie to us again. We then start to put our defences up against that person in order not to be deceived once again. Not only that, sometimes, we also tend to bear a grudge for long periods of time and it takes a while before the person who lied is forgiven, that is, if we ever choose to forgive and forget. The…

Lying only leads to more lying. If you lie once and someone calls you out on that lie then you have to create a bigger lie. You have to adapt to that lie and understand that the lie is the truth from then on. In some cases, it is better to speak the truth in a gentle way. Such as , if a woman were to ask you if she looks fat in a dress than find her a different dress and tell them that the new dress suits her better. However, In some cases its better to speak the truth in a cold hearted way. For example, if a grotesque girl likes you at school , you can tell her she is weird and that you don’t like her or want to be friends with her.…
