Homeless Youth Research Paper

Youth homelessness is a genuine concern in Chilliwack that is becoming increasingly alarming. Homelessness is often generalized as adults who lack appropriate residence. Often, these individuals are living on the streets due to a combination of issues including lack of available low income housing. Yet, children are not associated with the homeless status as they are not seen by the general public. Nonetheless, there is a large percent of youth in Chilliwack who meet the guidelines to be deemed homeless. The Cyrus Centre of Chilliwack is a “community funded shelter, operating almost entirely on donations and fundraisers” (Sam, Bates). However, the Cyrus Centre of Chilliwack is unable to shelter homeless youth because they lack beds. The solution
