Holy City By Henry Mouw
During the entire book it talks about the transformation of the current City. Many objects in today’s world have become distorted in their true meaning and need saving. For example, the Ships of Tarnish stood as a sign of power and possibly wealth, instead of just fulfilling creation. Jesus died on the cross to save sinners, but Jesus also serves as a light to the Holy City. Some people look at Jesus dying on the Cross and think it is about them. However, the main purpose was for the salvation and redemption of the current city. The ultimate goal is transform everything into the present into the Holy City standards.
What Mouw refers to when he is talking about actively waiting is the transformation of culture. The current age is full of sin,

I believe that Heaven is a renewed creation that includes an embodied existence and cultural life. At first I believed the idea that Heaven was just a spiritual place that you go too, but after reading Mouw’s book I do not believe in that anymore. It seems too strange to be a part of a different World. The idea of transforming our current World into a Holy City seems to be more reasonable. I think God created us in this World to test how we would act according to his ideal kingdom. God didn’t just want us to just join the Holy City but instead wanted us to work towards the Holy City by changing our culture and patterns. The problem with our culture and patterns today are that they are used rebelliously. In order for us to reach the Holy City we must first transform ours. We must change our City into something that God intended it to be at …show more content…
I believe that Jesus will be involved because I think he will save us from our sins in the City. The more important part Mouw brings up is that we need to prepare ourselves for the Holy City. We must work on transforming our disobedient ideas and making them creation fulfilled. Then all we have to do is actively wait for the Holy City.
Overall Mouw has very good points about Heaven and what to expect. In order for us to prepare we must look at our cultures patterns. The World must transform items that have been distorted by society. Everything involved in the transformed City will be aimed towards good use and the main purpose God had intended. We must fill the City with disobedient objects. The City will need politics that do not use their power for personal reasons and the people must not discriminate each other. We must follow Jesus because he is the light to the Holy City and we must transform our

Urban form is how people are related to the city. The parts of the city that were built by the people who live there shows the relationship between the city and the residents. In the reading Why Aren’t Our Cities Like That? by Witold Rybczynski, he spends time explaining how Montreal and other cities in the United States are different than Paris and other European cities. He says how Montreal has individual houses and has a commercial district. The people of Montreal built the city with what they wanted inside of it. They need individual houses for their residents and they needed a commercial district for the businesses that are downtown. This is different than what the people in Paris wanted for their city. This is an example of urban form…

Occasionally, we experience a glimpse of Heaven while we are still on this earth, Such as when we encounter something so beautiful that it makes us long for something indescribable. It also gives some people a feeling that the earth is not their home. Lewis says we are so caught up in this world we become unaware of Heaven. He quotes that “we are like an ignorant child who will go on making mud pies because we don’t know about the better things in life.” We tend to busy ourselves with worldly affairs and end up falling into materialism. I personally have experienced this by getting caught up in my responsibilities and entertainment so I often don’t think of…

This is essential because this reflects on what Jesus Christ has preached. This is the coming of a new kingdom. A kingdom full of peace, justice, and love. “The vision of Jesus is that we meet people at the bottom and help bring them up to trust themselves. In order to break down the walls that separate people we must not hit the walls” (Vanier, 71).…

Another Christian view is based on John 14:2. Jesus says, "In my Father's house there are many rooms". Some Christians believe that this means that heaven accepts different religions, so conversion is not needed. They believe that every religion has truth, and all lead to belief in God.…

A famous drawing of the future city, La Citta Nouva, is designed by Antonio Sant’s Elia, one of the key people of futurist movement on architecture. Jesus is the only way to Heaven, He is going to prepare a place for us, He will come back to take us to Heaven to be with Him; Jesus wants to comfort the disciples, and all people after them, He also wants to reassure them that whatever they ask from Him they will receive. John 14:1-15 is a passage of comfort, reassurance, and wonderful theological doctrine; John recalls Jesus telling His disciples not to worry about the future because He will provide for their needs and their future is secure in Him. The disciples still did not understand fully who Jesus is and they continue to ask questions about Heaven and God the Father, Jesus patiently answers their questions and in the process revealed His deity for everyone to see. Not only is Jesus revealing Himself to His disciples, but He is revealing Himself to all people of all time that He is the Son of God and the only way, truth, and life, and no one come to the Father except through Him. Jesus was not just the way for His disciples, He is the way for everyone, the promises that He makes to the disciples about preparing a place for them and doing great works do not exclusively apply to them, rather they also apply to everyone who trusts in Jesus as their Savior.…

I agree with Dyer’s conclusion that “Heaven is a state of mind, not a location, since Spirit is everywhere and in everything” (171) because it is easy to let my mind wander and get the best of me. Heaven Is For Real

The purpose of Heaven is for Real is to share the story of Colton Burpo and his trip to heaven. Todd Burpo is a pastor in a small town called Imperial, Nebraska. His job is to teach people about God and how much God loves us. So when he starts listening to his own son teach him things about heaven and stories of the Bible that his father had never taught him, he is surprised to say the least. Colton, not yet four years old, causally tells his family that during his appendix surgery a few weeks earlier, he was lifted out of his body and brought to heaven. At first, his parents think that he is just making things up, but then Colton proved he was not lying when he described exactly what his parents were doing in another part of the hospital while he was being operated on. “I went up out of my body and I was looking down and I could see the doctor working on my body. And I saw you and Mommy. You were in a little room by yourself, praying and Mommy was in a different room, and she was praying and talking on the phone” (Burpo 19). I believe the purpose of this book is to educate people about how loving God really is and to encourage non-believers about what they could be missing out on.…

I believe that real followers of Christ can relate when I say that I would much rather be in heaven than here on earth. When you learn about the love of Jesus and compare it to the lusts of this world, one seeks to be with Jesus more than anything. The Bible does a great job of describing our future home in the Book of Revelation in Chapter 22. My heart is there right now. I wish to be there rather than down here.…
