Holocaust Reflection
We talk about the Holocaust to understand the reality of the world. To compare our perspective with other extreme ones. To see how someone’s small selfish desires can lead to large problems. And to learn about the past to prevent it from happening again. First, education about the Holocaust can help develop views that can help people in certain situations have an idea of what to do. For example, people won’t fall for manipulation as easy as others who aren't educated. The Holocaust is a very important event. It was so devastating that you couldn’t just ignore this topic. The event is very real, it can be a way of showing that the world isn’t perfect and will never be. This teaches about eugenics, how it’s probably happening everywhere. It …show more content…
We could have more of an understanding of how people’s lives changed, how much they had to go through. We could learn about why certain people were hated. We could learn about the thoughts of those who couldn’t speak up. Propaganda played a huge role in convincing people to think a certain way. As time went on, propaganda became even more violent with the messages. This shows how powerful propaganda can be, especially for people developing their …show more content…
Like the last paragraph about perspective, we can learn about how Hitler achieved his goal. What he did to slowly gain power and to manipulate people into thinking he’s doing good. Because of all his power, people were afraid to speak their opinions. So much power can destroy everyone including themselves. Even today there are still people that support Hitler saying that he did do some good, but the “good” he did doesn’t excuse the fact that many Jews and other groups were killed. In conclusion, the Holocaust was a horrible and dreadful event that affected the world. A event like this could happen again if people aren’t educated about this and about the rest of the world. I feel the Holocaust will be remembered and taught for many years whether in a good or bad

    My grandparents were both in Auschwitz and barely managed to survive, loosing almost all of their relatives and family members. Overall in the Jewish community, the Holocaust is told through a purposive narrative as well, meaning it is taught and talked about to an almost excessive manner. It is most widely recognized through the story of Anne Frank; through her personal journey and experiences, people are able to connect with the violence on a deeper level after having seen a young girl experience it, thereby generating a sense of empathy from those who fail to be able to fathom the occurrence. Another example of this can be found within multiple museums in the United States, Israel, and Germany that display shoes of victims, their names and pictures, as well as the saying "Never Forget." By creating such a strong narrative about the atrocities of the genocide, it attempts at mourning for the lost while projecting a bright hope for the future in the belief that people will never forget what happened, therefore never allowing it to occur again.
