Holiday: Want and Time

General Purpose: To inform

Specific Purposes: At the end of my speech, the audience will be able to plan their holidays efficiently.

I. Introduction
A. Attention material: Vacation is fun. Who doesn’t love to go on a vacation? It is a perfect way to spend time with your loved ones, to explore a new place and most important of all, to de-stress and relax yourself from the hustle and bustle of your work life.

B. Tie to the audience: I’m sure everyone in this room has been on a vacation, be it domestic or overseas. The best part about going on a holiday is that you get to see and experience a totally new place with different food and culture and making new friends is an added bonus. However, there is a downside to going on a holiday; planning and packing.

C. Credibility material: I went on a trip to New Zealand two years ago, and that was the first time I planned everything on my own, from applying for a visa to acquiring accommodation. Planning your trip is important to avoid unnecessary stress and to fully utilize your time there, as time is money, especially in a country where the currency is higher.

D. Preview: I will explain on how to plan ahead for your holiday including how to plan a budget, how to plan an itinerary at your destination, and how to pack light and right.

[Transition: I will start by explaining the most essential thing in planning a getaway, how to manage your budget.]

II. Body
A. There are some traveling expenditures that you can’t avoid such as passport and visa costs, airfare, accommodations etc. (Mukerji, 2011).
1. Deciding on the right destination for your holiday is important so that you don’t break your bank. The destination you choose and the duration determine your vacation cost (Mukerji, 2011).

The car smells of stale French Fries, the seats are uncomfortable, the air is heavy with reuse, and the driver’s eyes are drooping heavily as mile upon mile has passed before his eyes. The sun is usually setting as the tired legs wearily lift an even more tired, slumping body from what seems to be the grave of the day. The desired destination looms before the tired legs as they attempt to traverse towards the room in which they will inhabit for the duration of their stay. The idea of a perfect day on vacation has a different meaning for different generations, and the way that each different generation would spend their “perfect day” on vacation is definitely different from the others! While some thoughts of the “perfect day” are the same for all of the generations, it may be best to focus on the major differences. Three of the most generalized groupings of generations of vacationers are the grandparent-aged, the parent-aged, and the children-aged, all of which are worth mentioning and discussing.…
