This organization is run by social workers and crisis intervention specialists and the main office is located in Atlanta, GA about 4 hours away from me. I would be unable to volunteer for this agency.
Domestic Abuse: 1-800-334-2836 If you need to report or discuss any issue in regards to domestic abuse you can call the number above. This number goes directly to The Haven. They are the local women’s shelter, and are located about 40 miles from where I live. They provide shelter, support, job training, and counseling to families and children who are victims of domestic abuse. This agency is run by social workers and volunteers and being that I am a caseworker at my local DFCS office and attending school for a Human Services degree, I am eligible to volunteer my time with this organization.

Paragraph 2: Explain whether or not you would consider taking advantage of this opportunity, and why. How do you think this volunteer experience could be valuable to you as a future Human Service

Then, the training begins. You will need to learn to react under emergency situations and under pressure. You will also learn different counseling techniques, although through the hotline you will be having the person in the crisis situation be the decision-maker. You will need to have them gain your trust and be able to open up freely to you.…
