The site of tragedy during World War II, which drove the U.S into the war, is the only naval base in the United States to be designated a National Historical Landmark. Today, Pearl Harbor honors this history-changing event with the Pearl Harbor Historic Sites in the Pacific National Monument Park,” (Pearl Harbor - Oahu, Hawaii). Besides the Pearl Harbor and other historical landmarks, Hawaii boasts with other cultural and natural attractions. Totem poles, volcanos, rushing waterfalls, lava canyons and gardens are just a few of the examples. Waimea Canyon in Kauai, for example, is a “valley, known for its reddish lava beds.” The “picturesque canyon reminds many people who see it of Arizona's Grand Canyon,” just much smaller. Kauai's version is bursting with ever-changing color, you can stop by the road and look at it, hike down into it, or swoop through it by helicopter. (The Best Natural…
In Hawaii, however, you become a part of a brand new experience that you have probably never experienced before. Beaches there are not lined from end to end with restaurants and rental shops; instead, they are lined with palm trees and all of their untouched, natural wonders that have been there since the islands formed. In Hawaii, you get away from the “real” world and get a chance to experience the rich island culture that you might never have known about. The hustle and bustle of the inner city life and the monotonous nine to five job of the suburban life are not seen in Hawaii. It is very relaxed, and every day seems like it is a new adventure waiting for you to discover it. The food in Hawaii is also a departure from something that you could get any other day. There are…
King Kamehameha I lived a long and prosperous life, dying from natural causes on May 18, 1819 in Kailua. Born with eight siblings and marrying six times, Keopuolani being his favorite, only one brother, Kauikeaouli, and his only son, Liholiho succeeded him.…
King Kamehameha, known as one of the most successful Kings in the entire world. Even though many people around the world may not know of him at all, in Hawaii he was famous since he was born. Fulfilling the prophecy of moving the Naha stone and becoming the first ever King to conquer all islands, Kamehameha seemed to be a Goliath himself, definitely a big fish in a small pond. The theory Advantages of Disadvantages states that people can analyze their disadvantages and the find the correct methods to use against opponents (Gladwell 18). Upon King Kamehameha’s reign of success, it was not just given to him and he was not always the one to be favored, many times Kamehameha himself, in fact went into a battle as the underdog and used his disadvantages…

For the 4th of July, my family is going to Hawaii this summer. We will celebrate my mom's 40th birthday and my grandma’s 70th birthday. I have never been to Hawaii before in my life, so I'm really thrilled. We are staying at the Honua Kai Resort on Kaanapali Beach in Maui for a week. We are also going with my mom's parents and my Aunt Jaime and Uncle Travis. Our condo on the beach is a three bedroom, three bathroom layout. It's going to be really spacious with amazing views of the Pacific Ocean. I am most looking forward to snorkeling because I've never gone before, and I’ll try to see some sea turtles. Hopefully, I won't run into any sharks. I'm sure we will do a lot of other fun things as a family, too.…
Mahealani, or Lani, is the type of person who was amiable and timid with strangers, but everyone close to her knows the atmosphere is more energetic and hectic with her around. Her lips are always chapped and her hair is always left down unkempt because she’s too lazy to fix herself up. While she’s eating, she likes to converse with everyone at the table for quite a long time, but eventually goes back to stuffing her cheeks like a squirrel would with nuts. Despite what everyone thinks of her, bad or good, she is very confident and somewhat arrogant. She has a very creative mind, especially since she likes drawing and doing arts and crafts.…

Military strength and power of the Kimbu society under the leadership of Nyungu-ya-Mawe made the state healthier. Nyungu-ya-Mawe was able to organize and train his army for security, defending both trade and the state and for expansion. My ideal vacation was to explore, and see Alaska’s greatness, for the first time. The glaciers are real floating pieces of ice, the mountains are majestic, and the ocean is ice deep dark blue. There are waterfalls, and don’t miss the much talked about Northern Lights. There is also a lot of preserved undomesticated land with wild horses and habitat.…
