Histogram Analysis Of Unwanted Images Of Leaves At Various Stages Of Growth
5.1 Introduction Images of leaves at various stage of growth are captured from the plant in the field without plucking the leaves. Image of leaves from various bitter gourd plant are selected during different seasons. For each stage of growth 200 images are captured for the study. Unwanted background images are eliminated in photoshop version 7 and saved in PNG format. Median filter is used for preprocessing the images in various stages and sample screen shots are shown in figure 5(a).The images of healthy and diseased leaf at each stage is converted into RGB,HSI and HSV and a sample screenshot is are shown in figure 5(b).
5.2 Histogram analysis For every stage images (front and back) of twenty five leaves are randomly selected from healthy

The gray scale values of the histogram for front view of healthy leaves are between 48 and 250, 35 and 250. The initial gray scale value being close to 48, 35 respectively and the final gray scale value is close to 250. There is maximum probability of occurrence of gray level between 48 to 250 and 35 to 250.The gray scale values of the histogram of front view of the diseased leaves is between 25 and 250, and of back view its between 30 and 250. The initial gray scale value is close to 25 for front view, and 30 for back view. The final gray scale value is close to 250.The maximum probability of occurrence of the gray level is between 25 to 250 and 30 to …show more content…
The percentage of difference with respect to healthy is 44.9 . Value of green in healthy leaves is 50 and disease leave is 41, showing 9 pixels difference. The percentage difference with respect to healthy is 45.3 .In blue value of healthy leave is 12 and the disease leave is 23 which shows 11pixel difference and percentage of difference with respect to healthy is 29.7 .For V (value)the healthy and diseased leaves values are 0.19 and 0.36 shows 17 pixel values difference. The percentage of difference with respect to healthy is 17.9. The values of Intensity in the healthy and diseased leaves are 0.09 and 0.24 which shows 15 pixel difference and the difference with respect to healthy leaves is

The collard leaf weight was also recorded (grams), and another single factor ANOVA analysis was performed to provide more information. The P-value in this analysis was 0.903093, again much higher than the α-level. Table 2 summarizes the analysis of the collard leaf weight in high and low densities. Graph 2 also displays visually, the difference in the average leaf weight of the collards. Although the average leaf weight is ever so slightly higher in the low density setting, it is not significantly higher (0.04462 grams in low density as compared to 0.04346 grams in high density).…

Following the three week period, the number of seeds that germinated and the shoots mass were noted from each pot (Walsh and Walsh 2015). This process was conducted by cutting the end of the plant shoot and counting the number shoots which rose (Walsh and Walsh 2015). The shoots mass was noted by, compiling the shoots that were cut, using a digital weighting machine (Walsh and Walsh…

The experiment proposed by the winning group consisted of the class dividing into groups of two or three. Each group then had to fill a labeled cup of water with 100 mL of stream water. Groups then had to cut 1.5 X 1.5 cm square samples of each leaf species (Norway and Silver). The leaves being cut for samples were leaves that had been soaking in Chicago River water for two weeks prior to lab. Each specific sample was then labeled with a colored pin in order to distinguish the samples and then both samples were placed into the labeled cup of stream water. Finally, three amphipods were placed into the cup containing the two samples. The amphipods were then left in the cup for one week, after which the leaves were removed and bagged by the…

Phenotypic plasticity, or differing phenotypes from one genotype in different environmental conditions, is a way for sessile organisms to adapt to changing environmental conditions (Valladares et al., 2007). Plasticity was expected to be abundant, however, it did not occur as often in nature due to resource limitations and environmental stress (Valladares et al., 2007).…

The purpose of doing this experiment on the rate at which photosynthesis occurs, was to find out how the rate of photosynthesis could be affected by changing certain aspects of the experiment; such as the color of filter paper, which in turn changes the color of light in the experiment. My group’s hypothesis was that if the color of the filter paper was clear, then more leaves would be at surface of the cup because they had photosynthesis occurring at a faster rate. For the experiment, we deoxidized leaves by placing them in a vacuum along with a sodium bicarbonate solution. We then placed these deoxidized spinach leaves into a cup of sodium bicarbonate solution, and then placed this cup under direct light for 20 minutes to observe how many leaves floated to the top after this time period. Each cup had a different color filter paper over it to test our hypothesis; with each group in the class having a certain group of colors assigned. Our group was assigned purple, blue, green and clear filters. The average of floating disks given to us were; clear ended up with 10, purple with 6.3, blue with 8.3, and green had 2.5 of its disks floating. With these results, our hypothesis was supported with clear having the highest percentage of disks floating after 20 minutes. The rest of the data for the other color filters were provided for us, these concluded black, red, orange, and yellow filters. Yellow ended up producing a cup with the highest percentage of floating disks, which showed a similarity as it was the lightest colored filter of the four it was tested with as well.…

The scale went from zero to five. Each number was assigned its own number of brown spots. Zero had zero brown spots, one had one brown spot, and so on to five. For each trial the control group’s average outcome was 2.5 on the scale. Lemon Juice averaged at 0. The runner up is Lime Juice which averaged at 1. Vinegar was next and averaged at 3.3. The following liquid had a surprising result Distilled Water averaged at 3.6. Alkaline Water waas next averaging 4. The worst liquid was Baking Soda Water, it averaged at 5. Most of the liquids had the same number of spots for each trial. There is a pattern where the higher the pH the browner the bananas got. For example lemon juice had an average pH of 2.60 and didn’t get 1 brown spot at that trials end. Another example is that baking soda water with an average 9.04 had 5 brown spots every time at the end of the trial. This says that the higher the pH the browner a banana will…
