Why was Martin Luther's insistence that only Scripture carried religious authority significant to the Reformation period?
Because it rooted many Christians and insistence that only scripture is invalid in the Catholic Church. During the reformation, the Roman Catholic Church's clergy were extremely corrupt. The corrupt practice was despised by Martin Luther about the Church. He could not agree with the indulgences that entailed people paying to receive partial remission sins committed.
