High School Students Should Not Have Shoes Essay
High school students should not be excluded from sports for not having the money. Around the world, so many students get shot down for not having enough money. If a player can meet the circumstances, they should be eligible to play. Money should not be an issue in any high school sport. Shoe companies should be able to give high school students free shoes because so many students get excluded for not having the money. Shoe companies giving shoes to high school athletes is positive in many ways. One way that it could be positive would be that it could save money for things later in life. Whether you can afford to buy the shoes or not, you would be saving money. The kids we could afford it, could by themselves something else. Students who did not have the money to buy basketball shoes, could save up their money. Another positive for shoe companies giving free shoes away would be that everyone gets the opportunity to play. High school may be the only chance that some of the students would have to play. After high school most will either go to college or straight into working. Money should not factor into whether or not they are eligible to be on the team. Parents, players, and sometimes coaches all around the world are going crazy doing fundraisers to try to be able to afford the shoes. Even with the fundraisers, it does not always get the player the money that they needed. At some schools, the fundraisers go for only the camps they go to. Then the students and parents have to go crazy, again, to raise money for the shoes. If a player makes the team with their talent, they should not have to go through all the struggles of fundraising and asking others for money to get shoes. According to Patricia A. Cervenka, some companies are giving free shoes to high school athletes. It is unfair to the students who can't afford it from other school

Why should college athletes be paid to participate in their sports? College athletes are awarded tuition free college due to their hard work and athletic abilities, why should they get paid extra money outside of their tuition being paid? Student athletes in college only have two jobs while they are attending, to learn and become a better and smarter athlete. These student athletes don’t need extra money outside of having their tuition, room and board, and food paid for. They are also given clothing which takes away another money based need. These student athletes are given much more than other students and yet they still believe that they should be paid for their extra work outside of their performances. The main reason is because they are already paid through their scholarships to go to school and play sports. Other reasons to this opinion is to maintain their amatuer status, difficult…

A thing to point out, a scholarship can be easily worth 15,000 to 25,000 dollars or more per year depending on what school he goes to or how many years he decides to stay in school. Additionally students receive all kinds of perks while they are in college, being the big man on-campus for some people, the ladies, staying at fancy hotels, being seen on national tv, lots more. We often look at college athletes as miniature stars. The question is, why should student’s athlete get a paycheck for playing amateur level sports? Athletes complain about how they do not get enough for playing a sport. They are forgetting that they are being rewarded with a half or full scholarship. The main goal for these athletes is being academically successful. Not who has the best jump shot or who fumbled a ball, that does not matter. The essence of playing college level has been taken out of place, now replaced with the mindsets of professional athletes. Did they forget? You are not professionals. The love of the game has been through extortion for the love of money. Paying college athletes will lead the students astray from what they attended the institution to accomplish in the first place, that is, to earn a degree, not to gain a compensation.…

Another problem is that even though student athletes are big part of campus life, the NCAA has created a monster that makes athletes try to focus more on their skill at their sport than trying to improve their education. If these athletes were paid, then they could focus on both and not have to think about their future in sports and try to improve their education in case they do not make it to the professional league (Staudohar and…

“School should be about learning, not sports”. Kids now a days love to play sports, but don’t like to learn. Learning, and get an education this is a very important thing in life you need it to have a good job so that you can have a family and support them. So I feel in school you must have good grades in order to play any type of sport, and if you do not then you should not be playing. A couple reasons I feel like this is for starters kids pay more attention to sports then they do in class. This is not how this should be. Kids should love to learn something new every day at school, but in some school that’s not the case. Kids need to learn.…

Many people believe that the money generated from the sports played by these kids should be given back to them as they are the ones drawing the fans to these events. However few realize how little schools actually gain money by participating in the National Colligate Athletics Association. A recent study conducted by USA today showed that there are only 40 schools that consistently turn profits from the sports that they host. (Whiteside, USAtoday.com) This means that out of approximately 200 schools who participate in division one sports, only 1/5 actually would have money available to give back to the student athletes. Furthermore, it would be unfair to provide the students who play the sports, the money that is generated from their events, rather then putting the money back into the schools. Although…

There's a big controversy right now about athletes (especially in football) who bring in millions of dollars to university while never getting paid. Some say that the scholarship is payment enough. Others say that the athletes deserve a part of the money, and they might deserve it, but they doesn’t mean they need it. Student-athletes deserve more benefits because at most 10% of each sports’ athletes will go pro and make a living off of it. Benefits don’t have to be just receiving money, they can be anything to help the person out. Whether it be less homework, extra time for homework, or anything really. Athletes will make the most of their benefits and use them as much as they possibly can. They shouldn’t be punished for playing a sport in college, they should in a way be “rewarded” especially if they are a winning team. These young adults are putting their bodies on the line every minute of their game to make a name for their team and their school, this is the least that schools could do to help them…

Playing a college sport is like a full time job, except the lack of financial benefits. College football and men’s basketball generate revenue of more than $6 billion every year, yet no money goes toward paying the people that make the sports possible (Bagaria). College sports would be non-existent without the devoted athletes who work hard and spend countless hours each and every day. Whether practicing, training, or playing in games, these athletes are involved in their sport all seven days of the week. College athletes put in almost the same amount of work as professional players do, but instead of making millions, rather they are receiving no financial benefits (Bagaria). College athletes deserve to be paid because they sacrifice so much for their team and deserve compensation. Secondly, college athletes not only deserve money because of their devotion, they also need it for their everyday life. During their athletic season, they do not receive any sort of payment for their efforts which would aide them financially and in everyday life (Bagaria). Most scholarships cover cost of housing and textbooks, but leave out basics such as food. Logically athletes need food, but their time and energy is spent on a “job” as an athlete…
