High School Concert Review Essay
Last Saturday, I attended the All-Region concert at Berkner. My family and I arrived 20 minutes late, but surprisingly came right on time to watch the beginning of the high school concert. In the end, I was surprised by how short the whole concert had felt. One minute I was hearing the orchestra perform and the next we were on our feet clapping. Now, as I try to actually remember the concert, the first piece was not as memorable as the second and then third. They played with energy and the endings were always emphasized, but I guess the middle to me lacked being the same uniqueness. The second song was short and pretty, and I can still remember the soli that the violas had, so that was amazing. Burning the piece, I was simultaneously laughing

The Concert (A Musical Party) is an oil on canvas, Baroque period painting completed by the Flemish painter Theodoor Rombouts circa 1620. The work portrays a group of five costumed musicians around a table covered with a Persian tapestry rug. Of the five performers, there are four men and one woman. The four men are playing various instruments, the woman appearing to be the vocalist. The play of deep shadows and bright highlights present in this painting make the overall use of chiaroscuro more pronounced, reflecting the strong influence of Caravaggio, a revolutionary Italian painter who Rombouts studied under. Caravaggio’s works, which combine the realistic rendering of the human state with a dramatic use of lighting, had a formative effect…

On the night of Monday, October 16th, I had the opportunity to perform as part of the Wind Ensemble in the SHS Fall Concert. The ensemble consisted of woodwinds, brass, and percussion. Our band presented two pieces in the concert: a program and an overture. Although we were not as prepared for the concert as I’d hoped, I opine that the wind ensemble performed rather successfully.…

Holding truth today and in the past, attending classical concerts is hailed as a sign of both sophistication and style. Very reminiscent of 18th Century attendances at places like the Music Center at Strathmore, my noteworthy experience broadened my musical horizon. As a newcomer to classical concert-going, I was enthralled by the aural masterpieces and the alluring atmosphere. In partaking in the National Philharmonic's opening concert of the year at the Music Center at Strathmore, one experiences the warm ambiance of classical music in modern times while retaining its renowned value.…

The concert was somewhat as I expected to be. The concert was so formal and organized. . Even though I had some prejudgments about the concert at first, I enjoyed listening to these pieces live. I will try to attend future classical music concerts. There were some parts where the management team could have done better. The artist demonstrated dynamics, technique, harmony and togetherness beautifully. Before leaving the concert hall I was able to speak briefly with some of the musicians, they were very helpful in answering my questions about the…

For my humanities report, I attended the Wind Ensemble concert at the Timko Barton lobby on October 8, 2015. The concert was so inspiring and refreshing for me since I love music and am currently studying music. Sitting with some many people and listening to beautiful music from a variety of genres was so restoring to the soul. Dr. John Jenkins, the director, was so motivating in every piece of music and of the program. The concert program ran smoothly as the ensemble band transitioned gradually to each different song piece. In addition the scenery added to the peaceful presence during the show. Since the concert took place in the lobby of the music hall, people saw the bright lights coming from the ceiling and they also enjoyed to majestic surrounding of the large glass windows. The Wind Ensemble concert event was a smoothing time to reflect on…

I saw The Santa Fe Big Band 22nd, Annual Evening of Jazz Concert. The band was dressed up all matching. The men were wearing black dress shirts and pants, with dress shoes. The women wearing black formal dresses with red shoes. They all looked very professional and when they started playing it immediately took me back to the 1930s, the big band era.…

On Thursday, April 21st, I had the opportunity to attend a jazz combos concert. I took it upon myself to attend this concert because of my interest for jazz and all that goes along with this genre of music. This concert involved two different groups of musicians performing music in the typical laid back fashion that most jazz performances are played in. Throughout this reaction I will give a few things I liked and disliked about these two groups of performers and specifically what intrigued me about each of their performances.…

On February 19, 2015, Jared Blum at the Sacramento State University had his first concert of the spring semester featuring plenty of special guests. This concert was presented as partial fulfillment of the requirements that he needs for his Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies. Jared Blum, with his special guests (Megan Spurlock on the clarinet, Morgan Childres on the trombone, the Jazz Combo, the Jazz Essemble, and other special guests), collectively performed nine pieces along with a medley that compromised of three songs at the concert. Prior to taking this course, one of the first questions that I asked myself was “what do I know about jazz?” I have always consociated jazz music with the African American culture, mainly because of the general idea of how jazz music can give off a “bluesy” rhythm. Little did I know how diverse jazz music can be. “Creole Belles”, “Creep”, and the medley that compromised of “When you’re smiling”, “Swing that music”, and “Shiek of Araby” are the pieces that allowed the audience, including myself, to experience the diversity of jazz music.…

On October 19, 2013 I sought out to listen to some classical music for my review for class. It was a pleasure to have found the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra at the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Oviedo, FL, a part of St. Luke’s concert series of 2013-14 that has been held in the last nineteen years here in Oviedo, FL. This free event that’s held each year at St. Luke church holds about three hundred people in there sanctuary, everything in the décor speak to your imagination Lutheran church. It was very nice it reminded me of a small concert hall. The orchestra fill the whole area were the choir usually sit. Christopher Wilkins, he conductor along within a full orchestra and Rimma Bergeron–Langlois the violinist, who all played four great suites from the genius of Georges Bizet, the piece from L’Arlesienne, Carmen suite, and Carmen fantasies, and Symphony in C’ that took you back in time. Black artists indeed were “robbed” black of their music, credit for their contributions made, and their just due. The main problem was shown through their recordings made by other artists who ended up profiting tremendously. All in all, African Americans contribute a huge influence on rock and roll. One of the greatest contributions that came from the African Americans had to be the blues. It doesn't matter what instrument, from basses to percussions, this music took America by storm. During the 1920s while blue recordings were being made, the “Boogie-woogie”, a piano style of blues formed.…

Monique attended the Swing class at Ambient Studio on March 14, 2009 to heard and dance to the rhythms and sounds of the Etowah Jazz Society. The concert was from 9pm to 12 am in the morning. There look is like a big band but they have a swing feel to them. The bands whole persona is that of a big band that you would see on a dance television show back in the older days. There sound was very mellow and not loud at all. After Monique talked to a couple of the members in the band I found out that there influences on music where commonly set around the swing era, big band jazz, and Natalie Cole. The band is comprised of 18 members who all have different skill levels. When watching the band it looked as though the brass section was more skilled…
