Nick Hornby is kind of everybody’s darling at PH. He is on every reading list, his books are highly recommended to be read and we have already watched and analysed “About a Boy” during a seminar in educational science. So this is almost too much and I have almost lost interest in him, even without knowing what he´s really doing. This is stupid behaviour of a student – your teachers want you to do something and of course, you do everything but not what they have asked you to do. Until one day I found out that this “detested” Mr. Hornby is the author of High Fidelity. This was something like an enlightenment for me (that day could almost be on a top-5 list of memorable events in my life…). I saw the film about 10 years ago for the first time. I remembered it as one of the best films I´ve ever seen. Immediately I started buying, reading and watching his works. I really love his style, how he describes his protagonists and how he makes them getting through their lives. In more than one situation I could exactly feel what he wanted to say. He can be very

I like how he narrates the story, too. The one with young love. The way the author showed us him walking down with his girlfriend while he was narrating the story is a great technique. The piano in the background is another good technique.…

We watched the Breakfast Club. One of the main character's name was Brian. He changed throughout the movie. At the beginning of the movie he was picked on a lot and no one cared about what he said. It was hard for him to talk to other students or try to say something, but they didn’t listen to them or tell them to shutup. When he was in the car his mom wanted him to study constantly. He was trying to be funny and did a weird pencil thing to be funny. People in his class did not laugh they just looked at him strangely.…

The 40 Year Old Virgin is proof that comedies can still be funny. Sadly, movies like this, with a kind of consistent humor, come out too rarely. Yes, it's a little long, almost two hours, but there are plenty of laughs throughout the movie, especially in the last 30 minutes, and they also save one of the best jokes for last. If you're looking for a successor to There's Something About Mary and American Pie, look no further. It has arrived, and in my opinion, is more enjoyable than either of them.…

300, which was based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller’s, is a film that still has many anxious people awaiting to see it. It was directed by Zack Snynder and is considered by many a spin off of Dawn of the Dead. This movie contains nonstop action with so much blood that it may be to much for someone to view in one sitting. 300 can be characterized through a suffering plot, unrealistically portrayed strength of warriors in battle, jaded dialect, and it’s mind-blowing graphical images.…

Illegal boxing, pikeys and gangsters – this may all sound confusing, but after watching this movie it will all make perfect sense. Snatch is a fast-paced action movie, directed by Guy Ritchie, which first of all deals with the robbery of a huge diamond, which everyone is of course interested in getting their hands on. All of the movies characters desire this diamond, perhaps except Mickey – the so-called pikey, who just wants a new caravan for his mom. Mickey is dragged into the illegal boxing matches by Turkish and his partner Tommy, who is setting up matches for Brick Top - the gangster, who thinks feeding people to pigs, is the easiest way to get rid of obstacles in his way for money. Mickey has to lose the game, but he eventually ends up knocking every last one of his opponents out, and tricks everyone in the movie. Turkish and Tommy, who just fixes the boxing matches, actually do not have much to do with the retrieving of the diamond, but in the end they get the diamond by accident, when they find the dog that swallowed it. Turkish and Tommy then contact Avi, who in the first place wanted to buy the diamond, with the purpose of selling it.…
