The most creative move is simply putting the emotional attachment millennials have with their technological devices under the microscope. Bringing an operating system to life, one that is so advanced that you can literally fall in love with it to a point it becomes your best friend & lover. I believe one day this could be a very real possibility, so the fact that movies are being made about this already can only make viewers wonder when a creation like this will come to fruition.
The movie watcher has to believe that you can truly fall in love with technology. In this day and age, we have become more and more dependent upon technology in our daily lives, and this movie takes it to the next level to show that it could become even more dependent. For those that may be socially awkward or introverted, there may be a time that technology will be there to comfort them, oftentimes to point where you may “fall in love” with the device. You must also believe that technology will continue to progress, as there isn’t a known device such as Samantha that has been created yet. You must believe that the feeling of love does not have to be physical; it can also be psychological and mental in nature. The viewer may also assume that this is a more pure form of love, as none of the physical attributes of Samantha matter to Theodore, as their relationship is not/cannot be a physical one.
I think using more advertising would get the word out there about this movie more than it already has. Targeting different markets, possibly showing other sides of what could happen with technology when you become emotionally involved. “Her” does a great job of showing the positive sides of growing attached to certain devices, but to reach out to another market that may not necessarily be as dependent on technology may be a great idea. To market this to other viewers outside of the millenials, it would be beneficial to show how much dependency we currently show & shed some light on the consequences of a technological meltdown, especially if you’re truly in love with it. With great love also comes great pain, that is why Theodore is so hurt when he finds out that “Samantha” is also in love with 600+ other users of the 8,000+ that she communicates with.

The New Woman was conveyed through the artists illustrations beginning in the 1880’s and continuing through the years, ending in the 1920’s.
