Henry Moore Warrior With Shield Analysis

This piece is called Warrior with Shield by Henry Moore, from the mid-twentieth century (1954). This sculpture is composed of form because it is three-dimensional which, has height,width and depth. This form has geometric shapes; the shield that the men is holding is a thin spherical shape with a pointy middle and the head of the man is an oval spherical shape. A strong sense of form has been created by increasing the contrast between highlights and shadow areas. For example the pointy part of the shield, the stomach and the left leg, have bright lights reflecting on them while the shoulders and right leg are dark.
