    1) The HBC has been a influential company for as long as Canada has existed. It began as a fur trading company and has transformed itself into a huge retail corporation that supplies a variety of goods. One of the three tactics, which HBC used to modernize their organization was through diversification. Although, this ended up being unsuccessful. They invested in new business such as; Designer Depot, Style Depot and acquired retailers like K-mart Canada. This was done to represent their company in a more fashionable manner. In addition, HBC also used the HBC reward program and online shopping experience, which involves the differentiation technique. This strategy separates HBC from their competitors and helps them obtain competitive advantage allowing them to appear unique. The last approach, which HBC used, was divestiture, which helped advance the growth of the organization, as well as the current business operations. They did this by vending the company’s assets and natural resources that weren’t considered valuable helping them to focus on the business’s prime motives.…

On the fourteenth I was assigned to the traffic unit on the night shift. The officer assigned to this position is given a traffic unit police vehicle, which is equipped with more items then other patrol cars. Some of the things being spike strips, laser radars and other various items. When on traffic duty the primary focus is on speeders. We were stationed near I-96 and took radar for the remainder of the night. We cited over twenty vehicles and had some other intense moments. For one of the stops we pulled over a felon that had a firearm in the vehicle. At this moment, my heart was beating much quicker and the situation became much more serious. We radio into dispatch for a priority unit to back us up. We then arrested the individual and drove to the jail. Most of the night consisted on specifically traffic duty with a slight amount of citizen calls.…

During 1825-1861, or the Antebellum Era, there were many different social, religious, institutional and educational reform movements. The political cartoon depicts Ralph Nader addressing America’s "throw away mentality". Meanwhile a citizen in the background is casting her vote by dropping a ballot into a trashcan. This is a fairly pessimistic view on voting for third parties, as the cartoonist is showing that votes that are going for third parties are worth nothing. Because the vast majority of the country votes for major party candidates, third party candidates rarely become elected.…

As children, we look up to our parents for guidance and knowledge. What they do and how they act can influence our lives in a major way. In Fiesta 1980, Diaz demonstrates the ill effects a terrible father can have on his children through the narration of a young boy named Yunior. Yunior is a Hispanic boy who just immigrated to the United States with his family. The family consists of a mother, father, two sons and a daughter. His refers to his father as Papi and his mother as Mami. He has a younger sister named Madai and an older brother named Rafa. It is tough on the family to pick up and move from their home. Not only do the kids try hard to fit in, but they also struggle with their home life. Their father is portrayed by Diaz as a womanizer, an abuser and a cheater. He is tearing apart his children’s lives by having an affair with another woman. The fact that they know about the affair and cannot tell their mother is killing them. Yunior seems to be affected the most by his father’s behaviors. By the plot and the use of characters, Diaz does a great job showing how children can be traumatized by their parent’s actions.…
