Health Benefits Of Weightlifting
People have this misconception that weightlifting for kids will have a negative toll on a kid’s body. There are many rumors stating weightlifting stunts the growth of the child or weightlifting at a young age will later produce damage to the body. Benefits, such as, increased performance in sports, better health, confidence all tie in with weightlifting. There are many ways kids can become better as a person with the addition of weightlifting in their exercise. Kids who are involved with sports will highly benefit by weightlifting because the kid will start dominating his or her opponents. For instance, lifting weights “increases endurance” as well as helps prevent him or her from getting injured (Collins). This will improve performance in the sport which will lead to the kid succeeding in the sport. Having a stronger body allows the kid have an …show more content…
Childhood obesity is when a kid is overweight for his age and height. Implementing strength training in the child’s life will significantly change the health of the kid as it helps them remain fit. In addition to lifting weights, kids start becoming more “health and food conscious” leading to a healthier lifestyle (Luoma). Kids are always attracted to sugar and other foods that will hurt their body. Teaching kids to start eating healthy now will allow them to set standards and limits on how they will eat later on which will ultimately lead to a healthier lifestyle. Lifting weights helps “raise metabolism” which is the rate at which the body burns calories (Bhaskar). Raising the metabolism of a kid that is obese will lower the body fat, resulting in a healthier body. Lifting weights will also keep the body constantly burning calories throughout the day which will speed up the process of weight loss in the obese kid. Lifting weights helps the kids who are obese by raising their metabolism which will help them lose their fat quicker and remain
