The proverb is shown as a theme because many people do not realize how much worse their lives could be. For example, the poem shows the proverb as a theme by saying,”We are all entitled at times, to gripe and to moan,what’s happened to my life, you say with a groan?”(Sage 1.), This quote proves that the proverb is a theme in the poem because when people do not realize how great their lives are compared to a impoverished person, they often complain about it.
