The oldest of four siblings, Loren has been attending Veritas since the 8th grade and completed her last year of high school as a Dual Enrollment student at Georgia Perimeter College. Prior to this, she had been homeschooled, with the exception of one semester in the fourth grade, where she attended Public “real” school in hopes of experiencing recess, riding the school bus, and cafeteria food fights. As Cumming New Life Church’s present youngest musician on the worship team, Loren is honored to have had the opportunity to serve her church as a pianist throughout her entire high school career. Along with being actively involved in her church’s children ministry, Loren has traveled on missions’ trips to Guatemala and Colombia. She has given short sermons both, domestically and abroad and never gets tired of watching the Love of God heal brokenness. In addition, her passion for people, whether old or young, allows her to enjoy her day-to-day life as a mission field of love. Loren will be attending Kennesaw State University where she plans to pursue a degree in Nursing. Her ultimate goal is to use that degree oversees where she can bring healing to the people in Southeast Asia.

When asked about her overall experience at Veritas, Loren considers herself to be of the blessed: “Not only did the curriculum aim for challenging me and preparing me for life beyond high school, I am convinced that the relationships I made there did the same. Whether it was a passing smile in the hall or conversation over a coffee, I just want to say ‘thank you’ for sowing those precious, irreplaceable seeds into my life.” Loren also counts herself to be privileged to have had the teachers she did at Veritas. She wishes to have noted that their testimonies and life statements have strengthened her walk with Christ more than they will ever know.

As nervous as I was when I walked into Saint Joseph Catholic School (K-8) for my first day of kindergarten, I never thought I would be able to leave after 6th grade and enter the world of middle school. In a small school of about 400 kids, I was familiar with every face that passed by me in the hallway. I got to know the kids in my grade so well and we all knew each other’s life stories. By the time I was in 6th grade at Saint Joseph, some of my friends were planning on going to Kinard middle school in 7th grade. At this point in my life, I was not completely content with where I was going to school. The realization came to me that it was time to move on. It was time for me to try something new.…

I’ve also enjoyed dedicating part of every summer to improve my musical skills by attending various camps, including Longlake Camp for the Arts, Eastern U.S. Music Camp at Colgate University and Interlochen Camp for the Arts, where I was just invited to return on the basis of last summer’s performance. While I know that there may be others with comparable or better talent, my passion serves as the constant motivation for me in music as well as other aspects of my life. For example, being a dedicated Honor Roll student, taking weekly Temple classes and performing community service has been important and demanding as well. Managing these priorities has taught me a lot about tenacity, friendship and balance.…
