Hawkbill Turtle Essay

The Hawksbill Turtle is a critically endangered species, and if we don't make a change to help them they will go extinct.
What is the Hawksbill turtle? The Hawksbill turtles have a thin shell. The shell has elaborate colors patterns. The name Hawksbill comes from its pointed beak, that resembles much like a birds beak. The turtle is a carnivore so it eats sponges, jellyfish, shrimp, and squids. The Hawksbill turtle is endangered due to the decreasing in pollution in waters. People when they go to the beach to enjoy the sun and sand, they don’t realize when they leave their garbage on the beach the wind can sweep it up into the ocean. Witch makes the water look unpleasant and dirty. If we don’t clean up the oceans animals like the Hawksbill turtles will end up eating it.
A solution that can help solve all the trash that goes into the oceans is to not bring so many plastic items. In the article 10 Things You Can Do To Save The Ocean says “ carry a reusable water bottle, store foods in non disposable containers, bring own cloth tote or other reusable bag when shopping, and recycle whenever possible” (National Geographic). This is giving multiple ways on how to reduce the amount of plastic and trash going into the ocean. By reusing the items you bring to the beach it will allow the beaches to be cleaner.Climate change can also affect the population of the Hawksbill turtles due to the increasing of females than males. When a species is out runned by females, they will be in trouble. There needs to be the same ratio between male and female. This is where climate change gets involved. “The sex of the embryos is particularly determined by the outside temperature” (Rickles). This meaning that there will be more females than males. With there being more females the reproductive system will decrease the population, and will eventually go extinct. Climate change is also increasing sea levels.
